Favoriting Brian Turner: Playlist from May 16, 2017 Favoriting

Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly-played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

slug, what did you think of the winner? I liked Norway's song because it was depressing. But Portugal's song was good.

@Brian I saw him at the old Knitting Factory too in 2005. Circle opened for them and thats when it all began..

that watchmojo list is the revalation for me. I expected it to be like reefer madness, and of course as a long time wfmu listener it was no news to me, but to someone who has only listened to fm radio or whatever is popular on youtube it was a legit sampler of some less common music..
Avatar 3:52pm
agentearplugs:

Merzbow in that tiny room!? No wonder the neighbors complained of noise in the area.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53pm

I liked Azerbaijan's entry for some reason. Maybe it was the way she pronounces "Skeleton".

  3:58pm

@ Cecile -- i liked that Portugal won -- a very heartfelt song! not your usual Eurovision fare :) & i enjoyed Norway's entry too, for precisely the same reasons
@ Michael -- YES! i love "Yodel It!" too! so cheesy & exuberant & just so freakin' adorable!
but of course my favorite was HUNGARY's entry, "Origo" -- ok he did not win but i am glad that he got into the top 10!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:14pm

Definitely minutemen influenced. Good stuff!
Avatar 4:17pm
