does the english track feature pedal steel? that's really the selling point for me.

it does not, and that Chuck Johnson track is truly beautiful; but if you played the 2 together i'd be surprised if the bass line didn't match nearly perfectly.
...the english track is more of an atmospheric piece (*even* more?) ...it's mostly or all synthesiser.

Howdy all! JJ you just reminded me to mention to you about the Steel Guitar Record Club. I picked up the Buddy Emmons volume which is jazz and country but there might be something that fits your pedal steel tastes. There is something like 15 releases in the club.
