  9:09pm phillip:

Just what do you think your doing DAVE?
Avatar 9:10pm lothianman:

So is it safe to assume Sammy came before the ventures and the TV show?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:10pm Ken From Hyde Park:

What, now? Did this version come before or after The Ventures and Hawaii 5-O?
  9:11pm phillip:

excuse me dave i have to take my stress pills
  9:12pm JakeGould:

Sammy Davis, Jr. is a great Jewish man.
Avatar 9:15pm Mailman Tom:

Barbara and the Browns. Now there's a name that will really stand out on the marquee.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:17pm Gaylord Fields:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:35pm Gaylord Fields:

@dale: Don't know it, sorry.
Avatar 9:36pm Marc Francis:

I'm down!
Avatar 9:37pm Mailman Tom:

The Beatles at Shea Stadium really brought the house down with their version of "I'm Down"
Avatar 9:38pm lothianman:

I have that as the B side on the help 45
  9:47pm JakeGould:

Too hot for mashed potatoes. Literal mashed potatoes and all mashed potatoes euphemisms.
  9:50pm mahall:

If I'm not mistaken (and I might be-- I didn't look it up) Terry Knight and the Pack was Terry Knight's band preceding Grand Funk Railroad...and might actually have been a proto Grand Funk. Grand Funk, by the way, sucked. Now I'll look it up and see if I'm entirely wrong.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53pm Dave the Spazz:

that sounds right (GFR)
  9:56pm miles:

yep it's right
  9:57pm mahall:

Just checked...boy is this inconsequential, but yes, Terry Knight and the Pack contained two members of GFR, guitar and drums. And they still sucked. I didn't think so when I was 13, but I know it with absolute certainty now.
  9:58pm mahall:

And...that Sammy Davis Jr KCIKED ASS! Where can I find that?
  10:00pm miles:

I believe Knight managed & totally ripped off Grand Funk Railroad but was no longer IN the band after the name change
  10:03pm miles:

Numbers is one my favorite 45rpm records and there's some good cuts on the album too
  10:08pm mahall:

Knight produced the first couple of GFR albums, and yes as I remember it he ripped them off and was generally an asshole.
Which may, or may not, bring us to Bob Ezrin. Who I have no idea if he was/is an asshole or not, but he was a specialist in bombast. Which brings us back to GFR.
  10:12pm miles:

my bird's fine . how's yours?
  10:28pm mahall:

The Producers!
  10:29pm mahall:

That's Our Hitler!
  10:53pm JakeGould:

Ya’ll hear about how James Comey tried to “blend in” and hide in the drapes at the White House once to avoid a big gorilla? It’s true.
  10:53pm chris dot com:

bass line on that mar-keys song, damn
  11:04pm Dennis Diken:

nice version of this timeless classic!
  11:05pm Dennis Diken:

sounds like Earl Palmer on "Winchester Cathedral"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05pm Dave the Spazz:

I like the fuzz guitar!
  11:06pm miles:

do you think there are long haired hipsters currently who limit their "old timey" novelty tunes to the jug band revival of the hippy era?
  11:07pm miles:

yeah good fuzz
  11:08pm Dennis Diken:

and he actually sings "ringin' your pal" instead of "bell"!
  11:09pm chris dot com:

smoke, smoke. everywhere-a-smoke!
  11:13pm chris dot com:

big ol' juicy birthday party
  11:15pm ButtWeenies:

I came to join the anonymous circle jerk what are we arguing about
