Big Bend is the greatest
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:24pm
Uncle Michael:

I'll pay shipping on the non-keepers, Kris.

Got introduced to chiggers on one trip to Big Bend, in crazy heat. Had a nice canoe trip through Boquillas Canyon on another trip.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:25pm

The one thing missing from Big Bend is a scumsuckingmotherucking wall.

Killer Tyrone Davis side. Early '70s Chicago Dakar/Brunswick/etc. productions are just so darn crisp and punchy
Avatar 10:37pm

Did a canoe trip on the Buffalo River in Arkansas and the only local animal life that was any trouble was an intestinal parasite that came home with my paddling partner, who'd unwisely added river water to his Kentucky Beau whiskey, which we'd purchased from the random guy who did our vehicle shuttle for us and also acted as bootlegger to supply us..."You in the middle of five dry counties, boys." That was some expensive Kentucky Beau and beer.

Little Danny:

quoth Wikipedia about Benjy Melendez:

"Perhaps surprisingly, Melendez's family, including Melendez himself, were Marranos (Sephardic crypto-Jews), practicing their religion in secret even in the 1970s while being part of a Hispanic community."
Avatar 10:48pm
Kris Holmes:

wow i didn't know that!
Avatar 10:49pm
Kris Holmes:

ugh, intestinal parasite = no bueno, my sister got one in India
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:51pm
Uncle Michael:

Kris, not far from you, over in New Mexico, there is a deep history of hidden Jews. It's really fascinating stuff.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:01pm

I learned of this on our trip to Santa Fe. I find it fascinating. There's a great Atlantic article online.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:03pm
Uncle Michael:

iminim?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05pm
Little Danny:

I've never heard you say anything with a drastically different pronunciation. Maybe "garage."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05pm
Little Danny:

But please do the next mic set with your impression of an American accent!

The higiminy?
I can still get taken by surprise with pronunciations from other English speakers. Heard a sound bite from a UK someone who pronounced "respiratory" as "resPEERatory." Among the inexplicables is that while Yanks don't say that, we do say "conSPEERatory."
Avatar 11:15pm
Kris Holmes:

english is weird
Avatar 11:16pm
Kris Holmes:

did i tell you guys about when i say "decade" americans hear it as "dickhead"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16pm

Yes, the English are weird.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17pm

There are so many words I want to hear in your next mic break, Kris. Don't deny us!

Americans hear "decade" as "dickhead," but it's English that's weird?! Uhm...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:26pm

Yeah, I need some sleep too. I'll say goodnight and listen to you finish the show, away from the keys.
