Hi, folks. Before you sit down, look up in the sky in a couple minutes (if you're in the NE U.S.) and watch the space station pass overhead.

Howdy Daniel Blumin! The TuneIn app says you are Therese. I have my doubts about this.

Being awake takes a little more effort than falling asleep early on a Friday night, but i was offered an exclusive invite to a campfire. Only an idiot would turn down a campfire.

I'll still smell like smoke when i get to the archives on Monday.

I hate to cut out mid Flipper.

  10:52pm iambasil:

Hi Daniel thanks for an amazing set so far(as always)so needed to hear revolting cocks :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:57pm Daniel Blumin:

iambasil, this 12" actually scared me when I was a lad! But I loved it, too!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:57pm Uncle Michael:

'85 was a year when Wax Trax was my record store and Al Jourgensen was someone I never saw there, but taped under the counter was a polaroid of Al with William Burroughs taken just down the road from my recent home in Kansas. This amused me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:59pm Daniel Blumin:

Just to calm our devotions - some soul with milk!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:00pm Daniel Blumin:

I wonder who stole that one, Unc M! Can't imagine that stayed there too long!
  11:02pm iambasil:

it can totally intimidate lol i totally understand :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:03pm Uncle Michael:

I have no idea when Al last haunted the store...he still did then. I just never saw him. I imagine sometime later that photo probably did escape. Later on, I declined opportunities to go to the house on which's porch that photo was taken. Burroughs' social circle and mine had only the slightest overlap. I could have tagged along when a friend went to some of the backyard jams there but I'm not much of a rubbernecker.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:06pm Uncle Michael:

LOTS of formerly scary stuff just sounds like music now.

Residents' Eskimo spooked the hell out of me.
  11:09pm Joe Mulligan:

Great show Daniel! Love the old warp era stuff. Pioneers of the Hypnotic Groove and Artificial Intelligence changed my life
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:14pm coelacanth∅:

i don't think any music ever scared me except a few-second-long moment in revolution 9 when there's a voice with what i used to consider a disgusting and scary effect on it, making it sound not-human.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16pm Bryce:

ja, gern
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16pm steve:

i remember a friend in college terrified by a 90s Merzbow cd... his words were "the noise wanted to kill me"
Avatar 11:17pm JakeGould:

Who’s Gern?
Avatar 11:20pm northguineahills:

In college, I used Merzbow to clear the club. In NYC I used Mariah Carey.

I think most of us are intrigued by music that instills the sensation of "fear". We can usually experience in a positive way.... (except nu-kuntry [ ie:Florida-Georgia line, I've heard that so much down here in FL)
  11:22pm slawooy:

happy 500th bday Blumens!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23pm fleep:

coloratura sopranos scare me
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23pm steve:

last music that actually scared me was Thought Broadcast. but in a good way. ive since picked up all of his albums.
  11:24pm rw:

Hey! I remember the Sex Pistols sounding scary, though now I can't for the life of me figure out why.
  11:25pm melinda:

Hello Daniel and friends! Just flew in from Austin, in time for the last half hour.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:27pm coelacanth∅:

i think what ngh says is true. -and music has excited fear in me, for it made me think about certain things; but i wasn't scared of the music.
  11:28pm alexander:

hallo herr daniel and everyone, thanks for playing kraftwerk´s mirror hall , even the greatest schtars...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:28pm coelacanth∅:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:29pm coelacanth∅:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30pm Daniel Blumin:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:33pm Uncle Michael:

Steve Reich's "Come Out" in quad didn't scare me, but it blew my 15 year-old mind.
Avatar 11:35pm northguineahills:

Crap, I was almost 20 before I heard "Come Out".
  11:36pm el Garree~:

northguineahills! Duly noted is UR DJ expertise! In TBay... Much love.
  11:36pm melinda:

When I was a teen the theme from Rosemary's Baby scared me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:37pm Uncle Michael:

We were doing Our Town in the round and we had a quad system for audio and someone brought it in...and we sat in the middle while that phasey business swirled around us. This was a year before my first psychedelics.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:39pm Bryce:

i'm pretty sure he's saying, "kurt gottschalk"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:40pm coelacanth∅:

who knows if i'd have been scared hearing certain things when i was 10 though. maybe. i was intrigued by the scariness of black sabbath and alice cooper, but maybe something more subtle would've scared me?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:42pm steve:

huge congrats on 500 DB. do at least 500 more!
  11:43pm el Garree~:

Uncle- It was A-round for a good while, professionally . I still have my dad's old JVC Quad from about '76 or something. Yes it works. But god in heaven please tell me where the fuses on my old Hammond T-532 are located. I love that sucker! Hey this is a better show than the on the AM side. Joke.
Avatar 11:44pm northguineahills:

@el Garree~: I just moved to Jax from Brooklyn. Although I hope to be moving for a job in Gainesville next month, although I've also interviewed for a job near the USF campus.

  11:49pm el Garree~:

Yeah, quad or muti was the "bees knees" as they used to say in ... um the day. Lots in the engineer's trick bag, as it was or is.
  11:50pm rw:

Pink Elephants on Parade! Totally scary!! Nice, coelacanth∅!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:51pm Ike:

@Jake@10:47, art, of course. But I've escaped back to the home grounds of southern Bklyn now! Hooray.
  11:51pm rw:

And Uncle Michael, Come Out in quad?? Holy crap. Just thinking about it blows my mind.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:51pm Tome:

  11:53pm rw:

And Daniel. 500 shows?? Holy crap. Just thinking about that blows my mind. Congratulations!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:53pm Ike:

What Steve said! But 500 more is not enough! 1500 more would be more like it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:53pm coelacanth∅:

i have a few quad albums that i've never heard in quad. oh well. i'm very happy with a good stereo production.
-curious though, esp with the dark side of the moon album, which i bought because it was less expensive than the stereo copy there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54pm coelacanth∅:

  12:01am el Garree~:

Ok time is not on my side. But there is a lot a good engineer can do with multi work. Really quite amazing possibilities. I guess it's quite appropriate that the original, and maybe quaint SgtPepper's are remixed. Working with those machines was a feat. Take care!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:01am coelacanth∅:

i believe you Bryce! ...but i can't seem to find pictures of it.
