I play music that is old and that is new. Some of it is digital while some is analog. It is from many different countries; sometimes it is loud and at other times it is quiet.

Hey Mayuko!
Avatar 12:03pm fred:

Hello Mayuko and listeners
Avatar 12:05pm Mayuko:

Jesse! Hellos! Good afternoon, fred!
Avatar 12:09pm fred:

This Christian Vogel track is nice
Avatar 12:11pm Mayuko:

Christian Vogel deserves so much more play on WFMU!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm tmoyo:

Hi Mayuko and Vertigo land dwellers. Love the image! Got to wake up early tomorrow so I have to go to bed soon, but sounds like its going to be loads of fun & wackiness... can't wait to listen to it on the archives.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Hi, Mayuko and vertiginous villagers. I could definitely picture Station Manager Ken playing "Crater 8" on his show.
Also: Shriekback! Don't hear them too often.
Avatar 12:21pm Mayuko:

Thanks for tuning in, tmoyo! Waking up early on a Sunday?! Hope it's something for fun!
Hola Ken! Daniel Blumin recommended me Shriekback, so that they've just earned rare(?) radio play now!
Avatar 12:24pm Jason Elbogen:

Hi All. That Blah Blah Blah song was a scary soundtrack to me trying to clean up my apartment.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm Ike:

Apartments can be cleaned?!?!
Avatar 12:26pm fred:

I saw a great dance show this week. Hofesh Shechter's Grand Finale. It will be performed in NYC this fall, at BAM. That's where it gets confusing: the company's site says September 09-11 www.hofesh.co.uk..., BAM's says November 9-11 www.bam.org...
It should get clearer soon. But I heartily recommend it
Avatar 12:27pm Jason Elbogen:

Ike--I've heard it's possible. It's harder for someone who has a big music collection and tons of paperwork for school and a tendency to never throw anything out.
Avatar 12:31pm Mayuko:

Jason! That Blah Blah Blah did sound like a kind of blah that I wanna stay away from, too!
& Hello Ike!
  12:34pm rw:

Hello! I'm always happy to listen to Play Vertigo live. Not always easy to fit into my Saturday schedule though. Maybe I should clean my house...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm Ike:

Those sounded a little like meows, ha ha
  12:36pm Dave B.:

Very Vert Vert I Go!

Hello hello!
Avatar 12:38pm Mayuko:

Always happy to have you here, rw! Maybe I should change my show to "Music for your Saturday cleaning" to encourage people to clean their houses, and tune into my show!!
Avatar 12:39pm Mayuko:

that did sound like meows, crazy cats meows.
Hellos, Dave B! I'm assuming you're cleaning, too.
  12:39pm Dave B.:

Sounds like the title of a Brian Eno ambient album "music for cleaning apartments"
  12:41pm Dave B.:

Mayuko - I knocked most of my cleaning out earlier. Getting some shopping done, and gonna set up the movie screen a little later. Doors @ 7.
Avatar 12:41pm Jason Elbogen:

Mayuko--you should check out this record by a guy named Tom Cameron - Music to Wash Dishes By. It would fit in well with your show (not just as inspiration, but musically):
Avatar 12:42pm Mayuko:

@Dave B Haha! I seem to remember someone told me on the comment before that people were not too happy with his music for airports played at a real airport...?
I don't think I'd want ambient music for my cleaning activity either.
Avatar 12:43pm Mayuko:

oh my god! "Music to Wash Dishes By"! I'll definitely check it out, Jason!
Avatar 12:43pm Jason Elbogen:

Avatar 12:46pm fred:

I'd wash dishes by this Dan Melchior track, no problem. Though I'm a zero-sink person, so I don't need an incentive
  12:48pm Rickwaukee:

Beano® more
  12:49pm Dave B.:

Let's not forget Haroumi Hosono's commissioned work for Muji from 1984

Avatar 12:50pm Mayuko:

Kind of hilarious to picture someone doing dishes with that Dan Melchior's seaslime as background.
Good afternoon, Rickwaukee!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52pm David D:

Tuning in to something good! Greetings Mayuko and everyone...
Avatar 12:56pm fred:

"Ma Charette Est Malade Mon Cheval Est Cassé" could translate to "my cart is sick and my horse is broken"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm Ike:

Holy crap, per social media (there are PHOTOS!), a car crashed through DJ Pseu's wall and into her bedroom. She and her bf, DJ White Russian, and their cats are all OK. Twin Peaks sorta saved their lives. Bizarre!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm David D:

Ike: That is terrible - are they really all okay? They must be terribly shaken.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm tmoyo:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm Ike:

Yep they seem fine. Two of the cats are very rattled, but unhurt. Apparently former DJ Mike Lupica brought them all lasagna and wine after hearing about this! Yay for Lupica!

Fantastic Planet is suuuuuuuper creepy and nightmarish! I can't deal w/it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04pm Ike:

Right now I'm soooooo glad I live on the 4th floor, heh. I just have to worry about out-of-control helicopters and drones instead of cars.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm Doug Schulkind:

Those photos were insane, Ike. So scary. Reminiscent of the accident that injured Jonathan Toubin.

Hi Mayuko and every safe person!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm coelacanth∅:

hello Mayuko and all
  1:12pm Dave B.:

I'll be listening, but getting stuff done on the roof! Call or text later
Avatar 1:14pm Mayuko:

Glad to have you here, David D!!!
Avatar 1:18pm fred:

I like this Waldjinah track
Avatar 1:18pm Mayuko:

@tmoyo, yes! はらいそ、泰安洋行、and Tropical Dandy with that Harry Hosono character, feels to me like he's traveled across Martin Denny's oceans.
Avatar 1:19pm Mayuko:

Hellos, Doug, and coelacanth∅!! Glad to have you here!!
  1:23pm Rickwaukee:

Is this Elizabeth Fraser?
  1:25pm Rickwaukee:

Liked that very much
Avatar 1:32pm Mayuko:

Glad you guys dig Waldjinah! Due to the hurricane cindy it was rainy and humid in NYC last night, put me in the mood for some Keroncong music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42pm David D:

Lot of stuff to dig in this set...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm GIVE THE DRUMMER RADIO:

David D will be on the stream twice next week:

• He's filling in for Global Grease on Monday, 7-9pm ET
• And he's doing his regular Continental Subway on Tuesday, 4-7pm ET

DD twice means quadruple D!
Avatar 1:48pm fred:

That Sakamoto track was new to me. I mostly keep missing the async tracks by a few minutes when I tune in, but the couple I heard sounded good
Avatar 1:48pm Mayuko:

Great! Should be able to get home by 7 on Monday!
  1:48pm Rickwaukee:

Music for Detective Space Mice
Avatar 1:50pm fred:

@Doug: also, 8 days from now, the return of Jason!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51pm coelacanth∅:

i must depart early,unfortunately.
Thanks Mayuko!
Avatar 1:52pm Mayuko:

Thanks coelacanth∅, have a great rest of the weekend!
Avatar 1:54pm Mayuko:

@fred that track was also included in his Summer Nerves. Kinda amazing to think this is the same guy who did that all serious beautiful async, haha! img.discogs.com...
Avatar 1:54pm Mayuko:

This is my last track today - thanks for listening everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54pm David D:

Thanks for the plug, Doug! When will Jason's show be on?
Avatar 1:55pm fred:

I'll miss next week's show: the administrator of my fave venue is leaving after almost 25 years, and she's throwing a party. I hate parties, but I have to be there
Avatar 1:55pm Mayuko:

"Jason Elbogen fills in for Destination Out
Sunday, July 2nd, 9am - Noon".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm David D:

Thanks, Mayuko - and thanks for the fine show!
Avatar 1:57pm fred:

@Mayuko: Oops, I do have Summer Nerves, but have only listened to it maybe twice, decades ago
  1:59pm Rickwaukee:

Thanks, Mayuko. Have a wonderful time all the time.
Avatar 1:59pm fred:

"Lumière Belge" translates to "Belgian light"
Avatar 2:02pm fred:

Didn't you play Der Plan on your first show?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:02pm David D:

I guess you could write it like "Dee Pie-Chuh Dess Lay-Bence", if that helps...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:04pm David D:

It means the "Whip of Life", by the way.
Avatar 2:06pm fred:

Speaking of Okinawa, when is your special with Rob scheduled?
  2:13pm Rickwaukee:

Bei Mir Bist Du Schön (To Me You Are Beautiful) was an Andrews Sisters hit 1938
Avatar 2:14pm fred:

"Les Fusées" means "The Rockets"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Thanks, Mayuko. Enjoy the sunshine!
  2:14pm ?:

lovely show Mayuko! otsukaresama!
Avatar 2:16pm Mayuko:

@fred yes! I even used their image on my playlist.

Thanks again for listening, and the pronunciation instructions (should have looked at it during the mice break!) Hope to see you all next week!
Avatar 3:33pm fred:

I remembered that because I had never heard of them before. Another enriching inquiry spurred by this show. I just wish your powers would bring Marewrew over here.
