Did you know they actually have radio programs/podcasts for cats??
  7:18pm
Kate:

of course.
  7:18pm

Anyone's cats going crazy at the bird noises?

If you hate the topic of birds then you can also call Ken and Andy's pre taped show they are doing right now. 201-536-9368

It was amazing! The bird made these noises whenever he held his hand up to it! But just him...and it tilted its head towards his hand. So cool.

Wonderful show. Trouble recently did a show with an artist who played an instrument with birds.
Avatar 7:27pm

@ Richard, well, look at the picture of this guy Tommy Chang on the message board. He said he has been doing this for 50 years and has a 40 year old son, and look how young he looks!
  7:28pm
Emily:

Oh cool! I love trouble's show. I'll have to check that out.

@ Dez, whats next?? Cats? Horses, rodents. There has to be some interesting animal choices to pick from.

TehBadDr:

The House Finches and House Sparrows that have found a nook in my building chirp pretty nice. I feed them, but they are bird brains. The crows however are smart, and elusive, but like the things I leave for them.
  7:31pm
Andal:

I have been having a really rough day and it was a delightful uplift listening to your adventure in the park. thank you.
  7:32pm
Andal:

I live in NC and have fallen absolutely in love with Carolina wrens. Tiny, curious, with the strongest pipes in the forest.
Avatar 7:33pm
kimzilla:

@Andal, I am glad this lifted your spirits. It only gets better with the Burma festival.
  7:33pm

I love Carolina wrens! Beautiful song.

Burmese food is indeed unique and wonderful... there's this fermented tea salad that is just outstanding.
  7:34pm
Andal:

Thank you @kimzilla :) looking forward to that too.
  7:34pm
Kate:

fermented tea salad? how liquid is that?
  7:35pm
Andal:

OMG I just got a burmese cook book and am copying a recipe right now. synchronicity! roasted eggplant salad with fried shallots...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:35pm
chris:

think tea leaves get fermented like cabbage (kimchi)
  7:35pm

@Kate, the tea leaves are fermented. the salad is not liquid. i have only read about it.

@TehBadDr, no fixing it now. Its for the handstanding audience.
  7:38pm

It was so good! I was amazed how lovely it was for breakfast.
  7:39pm
Andal:

@andrewb, that is so sweet. the can fly almost completely vertically!
  7:39pm
Listener Robert:

You ought to play as your talkover music for this show "Burmese Bear", a satiric song about Burma that Irwin used to play a lot. In fact he used some of it as bed music.
Avatar 7:39pm
TehBadDr:

Was there crunchy dried tiny shrimp in it?
  7:40pm
Kate:

Penguins don't come from next door, they come from the Antarctica. Burma! why did you say Burma? I panicked.
Avatar 7:40pm
kimzilla:

@Listener Robert, oh wow, and I just saw irwin too. Actually the outro song was curated by the great Rob Weisberg.
  7:41pm
Emily:

I couldn't even tell what was in it for the most part! It was delicious though. They just handed us these GIANT bowls of curry fish noodles.
  7:41pm
Emily:

@Kate hahah! I almost used that as our intro! But it was deemed too silly.
  7:41pm
Listener Robert:

Burma's politics was a combination of repression, then very ostentatiously counteracting their own oppression, and, partly as a result, sheer craziness. Like Woody Allen as dictator in that movie, but for real.
  7:41pm
Andal:

tofu made from chickpeas!!! shan tofu. i want to make it.

@Emily, the book I got is Burma Rivers of Flavor by Naomi Duguid. very accessible and beautiful book.
Avatar 7:44pm
kimzilla:

@TehBadDr, no shrimp, just these long crunch fish skins, and then you add cilantro and lime and chilies.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44pm
cosmic matrix:

there used to be a burmese restaurant in the east village in the early 90's...taste of burma? i don't remember but it was great.
  7:44pm
Emily:

@Cosmic-that sounds so interesting--I definitely wanna check that tea salad out.
@Andal-ooh, thank you! I'm gonna look into getting that.
  7:45pm
Listener Robert:

It was like, "Do what we say! No, wait, be free! We will force you to be free!" At least that's what I gathered from it. You can't gather much of it from "Burmese Bear", though, because it was couched in language that would pass censorship, even in xlation.
Avatar 7:46pm
kimzilla:

@Cosmic Matrix, that's where Emily and I have a difference of opinion, she is much more adventurous with the weird healthy stuff. Like fermented peas for example, (I made that up)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:46pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Fermented Peas = Good name for a band!
Avatar 7:47pm
kimzilla:

"Oy were fermented peas!" and then they spit them all over the audience!
  7:48pm
Emily:

@Robert: truly fascinating. I feel like I barely scratched the surface of what's going on there in my research. I gotta read more about it.
  7:48pm
Emily:

That sound was a little old person shuffling in front of us as we walked.
  7:48pm
Andal:

@Emily, what sold me is, instead of saying "go buy these staples at at an ethnic store," it tells you how to make them. hope you enjoy :)
  7:49pm
Emily:

@Andal: ooh yes! I love that.
  7:49pm
DEZ:

Righteous jam in the background!!!
  7:49pm
Emily:

It was madness. Everyone was talking to us at once. It was great.
  7:49pm
melinda:

Does Emily like natto? I hear it's gross for people not raised eating it, but it's also a source of an important nutrient, maybe vitamin K.
  7:50pm
Emily:

I love natto! I think it tastes kind of earthy and coffee-like.
  7:50pm
Emily:

It's weird though.
