Avatar 12:59pm

They were a short-lived Belgian band from the early '80s. Really, really great band, including Alain Neffe of Insane Music should-be-fame. They recorded a ton of stuff in just a few years.

Avatar 1:29pm

Speaking of which, we went to an opening at the Bendix building on Maple DT last night. Last(almost), undeveloped section and it was totally dark. Everything NOT the Bendix bldg. was metal shuttered.
We only know that because we could see by the headlights.
It was like an old Michael Macmillan piece. Nostalgia ( temporarily ) cured.

JtotheK:

tony how's the rest of that Bill/Horace? found the track list...curious about 'Amniotic Universe' (both pts 1 and 2!), and 'The Furious Pace of Life' ... which follows 'Furiosity'...
Avatar 1:30pm
Tony Coulter:

@ Listener James: Has quite a cover too: www.discogs.com...
Avatar 1:31pm
Tony Coulter:

@ JtotheK: "Amniotic Universe" is quite good -- particularly pt. 2. Will probably play that on a future show.

I worked in downtown LA for several years, north of the Bendix site, closer to 101 and 110. Somehow I managed to avoid learning about it until your comment, geezerette.
Avatar 1:42pm

The doorman told us it was built in 1922 by a Mexican architect named Florence Costas. Remarkable accomplishment anytime but especially back then. As he was telling us this, a hungry ghost rolled a heavily loaded shopping cart soundlessly past.

Hi Tony et al.
Avatar 2:04pm

@ Stanley: Yep, the rule handbook states: During the basement-records segment the DJ, or his authorized agent, must only play records from the Coulter basement.

(I hadn't checked or heard "Wildfire" in ages, was thinking it was some obscure cover version...)
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:10pm
Stanley:

I get it and the 'Wildfire' record must have come from the warmth and comfort of upstairs.
Avatar 2:11pm
Tony Coulter:

Actually, it's worse than that: it was a CD.
Avatar 2:13pm
Tony Coulter:

This Suns of Silence track has a bit of a Vini Reilly feel, methinks....
Avatar 2:15pm
Tony Coulter:

By the way, three of today's basement records will be promoted to upstairs status. Won't say which, so as not to hurt the other records' feelings.
