My horse blocked me on Facebook.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:10pm
Sam Segal:

Oy, that's a low blow, @Doug. My horse at least likes an occasional Instagram post of mine, because he wants me to think he likes me. I see right through his game though...

Mazel Tov On the success out East! You best believe Give The Drummer is reaching Golden Valley!

Now, fellas, I don't know about that. The man's only a floor below me. He could come up at any moment and sock me in the jaw for a move like that!

Great hanging by the lobster boats music, Sam. Thanks for fueling the party.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19pm
Uncle Michael:

Doug, do you get belly clams Down East?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:21pm
Sam Segal:

This Porter Ricks number sounds like it was made at an underwater rave, @Doug. Hope I don't spook the lobsters.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:22pm
Uncle Michael:

Porter Ricks was the father's name on the television show "Flipper", so perhaps it was.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27pm
Doug Schulkind:

Oh hells yeah, Uncle Mike. Had 'em today at the best fried clam joint in the known universe, Bagaduce Lunch: www.bostonglobe.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29pm
Uncle Michael:

I miss belly clams.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:30pm
Doug Schulkind:

They have a beauty pageant here every summer where they crown a Miss Belly Clams. No they don't.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:31pm
coelacanth:

"porter ricks" seems an odd choice of character name in a tv series such as that one. i'd expect something more like "michael duffy" or "henry fields" ...in other words, more common names.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:33pm
coelacanth:

what's a belly clam -besides a clam that has been eaten and is now in someone's belly?
  10:34pm
Dave in Vermont on the phone:

Digging show
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:36pm
Uncle Michael:

It's a clam that still has its belly. The ones that are frozen and shipped across the country lack the belly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:40pm
Sam Segal:

Thank you, Dave on Phone!
Avatar 10:40pm

Levon Vincent was a bartender/manager at a club I dj'ed more adventurous stuff. He was one of the few bartenders who liked my stuff. He gave me a cdr of his demos, he moved and blew up. Glad to hear his stuff, he's a good lad.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:41pm
Sam Segal:

Woah, that's awesome, @ngh! Is the club still around?
Avatar 10:44pm
northguineahills:

Nope, it was in Carrol Gardens, Brooklyn, last I checked it's now a Thai restaurant. It was a bar/cafe/record store/art gallery, Halcyon. They moved the record store to DUMBO, but it just doesn't have the same vibe.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:45pm
coelacanth∅:

huh, so, a whole clam - the only way i ever ate them until the first of under a dozen times i had fried clams, when i was about 15. i always just thought the fried clams were so small because they were just small.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:47pm
Uncle Michael:

Without the belly, they're just clam strips.
  10:47pm
Carmichael:

Szechuan clams, the only way to go. There's a place in SF where we eat them by the ocean full.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:47pm
Doug Schulkind:

Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn. My old home. Miss it terribly, even though I could hardly afford to live there now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:48pm

i remember halcyon -only in there maybe twice though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:48pm
coelacanth∅:

Uncle M that's just what they seem like.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49pm
Ike:

Hi Sam. Belated welcome to NYC & JC! Are you in the part of Bklyn w/lots of interesting large-scale graffiti/murals?
Avatar 10:50pm
northguineahills:

Levon wanted to keep things interesting, so me playing w/ four turntables was alowed, and my roommate's (at the time) analogue minimal techno group (socks and sandals) were regulars. He left when they left, and in DUMBO it was just a decent techno record store.

@Doug: They moved in 2005. I believe it was on Smith and Wykcoff if my memory still works.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:51pm
coelacanth∅:

i haven't had a raw clam or steamer since i was 12. that's about 90 years ago. one of my favorite things as a child.
Avatar 10:52pm

Stop making me hungry, everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:53pm
Sam Segal:

Thanks, @Ike. I am indeed in the part of Brooklyn with the cool murals and graffiti. Enjoying it quite a bit so far.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54pm
coelacanth∅:

i'd like to talk about djing with 4 turntables, or even 2, but i'd be talking out my ass!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54pm
Doug Schulkind:

@NGH
I never attended any events at Halcyon. Only shopped for vinyls.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:55pm
Sam Segal:

@Doug, as you now, I just spent a week in Carroll Gardens cat sitting. I miss the cat (Mr. Pants) and the air conditioning terribly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:55pm
Uncle Michael:

Did you attend any events on Halcyon?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:58pm

I'm going to go to bed now. Thank you, Sam. Goodnight, everyone.

Avatar 11:15pm
northguineahills:

@Doug: Neither did I, as Levon was no longer working there and they didn't have dj/live music nights. I glimpsed inside, and it looked like they had a decent vinyl selection for interesting club music, but not as much as they had in Carrol Gardens.
