	♥ 4:45pm Parq: Narrow escape here at Casa Parq -- the moment we've been dreading, the kid got trapped on a dead subway train. (For those of you not in the NYC area, that has been happening a lot this summer.) Fortunately, they were able to evacuate the train relatively quickly and without injury.

	5:37pm melinda: I deal with tourists at work all the time during summer, most are pleasant, and it's always interesting to observe people from other parts of the country/world.
	5:37pm pacific standard simon: I've never heard any T Rex that I hated. Much that I loved. Especially Electric Warrior.

	5:40pm KP: Saw Eleanor Friedberger of FF come out as guest at a concert by an FMU sort of associated act and she just stole whole thing with a Patti Smith mini set

	5:46pm pacific standard simon: My island gets a different breed of tourist, the cruise ship and and shuttle and ferry types. Enormous, cane-leaning, and garbage strewing. Only in the height of summer, fortunately.
	5:47pm Bill Mac: Happens all over. It's why we don't hit the east coast beaches til after the season is over.
	5:48pm melinda: I don't know a lot of T Rex but like what I've heard. Ride a White Swan is extra good.

	6:01pm pacific standard simon: Zzzzzzero Hour is like one of those pizza parlors that feature arcade games. But in a GOOD way.
	6:01pm geezerette: Cruise ships are purgatory. Wherever they go they're parked one after another for miles. It's like every 15 minutes an entire city invades your town, buys the same things, asks the same questions, behaves the same way, and leaves. Locals resent it but economies depend on it.

	6:07pm melinda: Bill you are wise to avoid cruises. Regarding their impact on local economies, the ones that come here bring some $ but not as much as people think. They often take buses to neighboring towns with shopping malls and outlets.
	♥ 6:08pm Stanley: My pal plays bass in a band on a cruise ship in the Caribbean. He says the buffets are piled high with fancy foods, far to much for the passengers to eat so tons of it gets thrown overboard every day.

	6:11pm pacific standard simon: There's an awesome cover of "Knowing Me, Knowing You", by a down-under band named, I think, Laundrette. Far moodier than the original.

I was in One Stop Records in London circa 1972 asking about a new record and this little fella in ballet pumps and loons carrying Chuck Berry and T Rex albums tells me info (incorrect as it turns out) about the record. Yes it was Bolan. My wife was not happy when I told her years later. Apart from both of them both wanting to be stars so urgently, Bowie had the talent to keep it going.

	6:01pm geezerette: Cruise ships are purgatory. Wherever they go they're parked one after another for miles. It's like every 15 minutes an entire city invades your town, buys the same things, asks the same questions, behaves the same way, and leaves. Locals resent it but economies depend on it.

I was in One Stop Records in London circa 1972 asking about a new record and this little fella in ballet pumps and loons carrying Chuck Berry and T Rex albums tells me info (incorrect as it turns out) about the record. Yes it was Bolan. My wife was not happy when I told her years later. Apart from both of them both wanting to be stars so urgently, Bowie had the talent to keep it going.
