I play music that is old and that is new. Some of it is digital while some is analog. It is from many different countries; sometimes it is loud and at other times it is quiet.

Ainu stuff. Could some Marewrew be in the cards?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:57am listener james from westwood:

Afternoon, Mayuko, fred, and all!
Avatar 12:01pm fred:

Good afternoon Mayuko and all
Avatar 12:07pm fred:

I'm not well these days, it's either because I was on vacation last week or because Mayuko took last week off
Avatar 12:09pm fred:

(hint: Mayuko isn't to blame)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10pm listener james from westwood:

Sorry to hear the health has been less than 100%, fred.
Avatar 12:10pm Mayuko:

Good afternoon, fred and james! I wasn't planning to play Marewrew but I suppose it makes sense to squeeze it into somewhere in today's show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm Ken From Hyde Park:

*waves prayer stick in fred's direction*
Hope you feel better, fred. Hello, everyone.
Avatar 12:18pm fred:

@james: I always get sick when on vacation. Like always. This time is was blood thinners getting supercharged, but it's always something. Good thing I never get away so I can give to the station. Though it seems I'm a liar now
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20pm Doug Schulkind:

Hi Mayuko! Hello playverts!
Avatar 12:22pm fred:

This Monastery of Erdeni Zuu ritual is something
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm coelacanth∅:

hello Mayuko and ever one
Avatar 12:24pm Mayuko:

Hello Ken! and Doug!!!
fred, I guess your body knows vacation time is the time that works best to take a break and receive some treatment without interrupting things you need to do. Maybe it's being wise!
  12:24pm Rickwaukee:

can't help singing to this: 'met her on a Monday and my heart stood still'
Avatar 12:26pm Mayuko:

Welcome on board, coelacanth∅! Hola, Rickwaukee! Thanks for tuning in!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm coelacanth∅:

fred -as i challenge myself to take care of my body beyond the level it seems most people can get away with, i challenge you.
(...and, feel better soon!)
Avatar 12:28pm fred:

It's getting bruised. Now they have to draw blood from my hands, and that's painful for days. But having your show back on the air beats these minor ailments
  12:29pm Rickwaukee:

So nice to have you back, Mayuko.
Avatar 12:34pm Mayuko:

Thanks for your kind words, guys! I am so happy to be back here on the radio!
  12:39pm Jesse k:

Hi Mayuko!
  12:39pm WebHamster Henry:

Good afternoon Mayuko!
Avatar 12:48pm fred:

This is amazing, thanks
  12:50pm Veronica P:

This show is matching my mood perfectly. Thanks, Mayuko.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm listener james from westwood:

So I'm thinking, "This sounds like someone tap-dancing to Moondog."
::checks playlist::
Avatar 12:55pm Mayuko:

Hey Jesse! Good afternoon Webham Henry! Thank YOU for listening, Veronica P!
Avatar 12:56pm fred:

@james from westwood: if you ever meet someone who tap dances to Moondog, befriend him/her immediately
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56pm paul b:

I saw the Sugar Cubes once at the old 9:30 club in DC. At one point something happened and the band paused while Bork tried to figure something out.
The guitarist & rythmn section start to fill the time by going into a twangy country-western version of their big hit. Bjork turns and gives the guitarist a look that would freeze air solid. They stopped. I would never mess with Bjork about anything, even if I were some evil grey doppleganger.
Avatar 12:58pm Mayuko:

fred, the whole album is the recording of the ritual from preparation to the end, it's very interesting. Would have played the whole thing if it didn't contain that much Japanese narration explaining what is happening (which is helpful, but doesn't work for radio.)
Avatar 1:02pm fred:

@Mayuko: especially when said radio broadcasts to listeners like me who don't understand Japanese
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm Doug Schulkind:

Everyone know you are a kind and beneficent grey doppelganger, Paul.
Avatar 1:07pm fred:

@paul b: I would take a chance and mess with Bjork, but about music, no. I don't have that much of a death wish that I'd need it to be mixed with humiliation
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm 23 Wolves:

Great show today Mayuko, thanks!
  1:10pm Rickwaukee:

Watched the Bjork vid - that's some feisty baggage - she packed the bag? or did it stow away?
  1:11pm Rickwaukee:

Bear = positive Yelp review

ROTFL, Rickwaukee
Avatar 1:18pm fred:

When is that Okinawa show with Rob happening?
  1:28pm WebHamster Henry:

I'm writing in my little Play Vertigo premium notebook!
Avatar 1:28pm Mayuko:

Hi paul b! I'm jealous you got to see the Sugar Cubes! Thank you for the kind words, 23 Wolves! Hola, ike!
Avatar 1:31pm fred:

@Webhamster Henry: I write interesting dreams in there
Avatar 1:34pm Mayuko:

@fred Not sure if the okinawa show is happening this summer yet, he's probably busy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:43pm coelacanth∅:

such a great song - and what a great segue
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm coelacanth∅:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:48pm coelacanth∅:

that Ryuichi Sakamoto track reminded me (from the other end of my apartment) of the closing track of gentle giant's album "three friends" for some reason. that song would also segue into at last i am free pretty nicely.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53pm listener james from westwood:

pa-ha-REE-to is the way to go! And it means "little bird."
  1:58pm Rickwaukee:

A CURSE! a first? lol
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm coelacanth∅:

my brother spoke latin, but he's somewhere else than here.
  2:05pm Rickwaukee:

This is a very nice way to learn anything. Thank you, Mayuko. Have a beautiful week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:06pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Thanks, Mayuko. See you next time!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:06pm Ike:

Re: Gods being silent, this might be a bit of a tangent, but there was a corny TV series back around 1990 called "War of the Worlds", a loose attempt to do a sequel to the radio series. The invading aliens worshipped a bigger jellyfish-like alien and mocked the humans by saying, "You can't even SPEAK to your GOD!" which was extra spooky and always stuck w/me even though it was mostly a junky and dumb show. What a concept. Anyway, thanks Mayuko!
  2:07pm Jesse k:

Thanks Mayuko!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm coelacanth∅:

Thank you Mayuko
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm listener james from westwood:

Thanks, Mayuko! I always enjoy your philosophical and historical examinations of the issues brought up by your music!
Avatar 2:09pm Mayuko:

Thanks everyone for listening! I appreciate you being here. Have a beautiful week to you all!
Avatar 2:09pm fred:

If you weren't there what would I do? Despair? You mean more than you know
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:09pm tmoyo:

Tsushima Yuko's novel that came out last year is about an ainu girl's journey with a catholic missionary from hokkaido to nagasaki. She joins kakure christians in kyushu and eventually boards a ship and lands on Macau. She ends up in indonesia at the end of the story far from home but remembers her ainu roots as this one song she heard from her mother as a child... The story was set in the 1600s and was pretty interesting. wonder if you have read it Mayuko. Thanks for the superb show!!
Avatar 2:15pm Mayuko:

@tmoyo Oh my god! I didn't know her and she's the daughter of Dazai?! I definitely should check that novel out, thanks so much!!!!!!

Hi Mayu, just got back from JPN last week. Re Francis Xavier, you must consider all christian missionaries back then were trained 'Gold miner' looking for gold. He teamed up with JPN lord in the prospect of Gold and wealth if they's believe in Christianity.
