Hi All! My guest today is Mark Deutrom, you may know him as Mark D of mid 90s Melvins fame, and hopefully know Bellringer, his latest creation! He's got a helluva freeform playlist, and I am starting his music at 12:40! He will be live at 1pm, toss some questions here! Who will I see at Melvins tonight?

V Priceless there are GA tix for Irviing Plaza on Live Nations site, but they are like $60 after fees!!!!
Avatar 12:21pm

And they are $29 in Asbury Park through Ticketbastard
Avatar 12:25pm
V Priceless:

thanks @ Menfuss - figures - the base GA price was $ 25 - kinda surprised that tix were only available thru Ticketbastard - Melvins ticket prices are usually more than reasonable. Must be a venue thing...plus, one always needs a little extra cash for all the wonderful Walsby and venue-specific poster art...

You can take the North Jersey Coast line on NJ Transit to AP, out of Penn Station:

www.njtransit.com...

Keep in mind that NJT has been a shitshow due to tunnel work, and I think it's over a 2 hour train ride from Penn NYC to AP during normal times. Don't know anything about bussing it.

I've parked near the AP train station and walked to the Stone Pony, maybe a 10 minute walk.

@MenFussMike: I'm a fan of Johnny Mac's on Cookman. Right near the train station, and every drink you buy, you get a ticket for a free personal pizza. Mogos on Cookman (they have a booth on the boardwalk as well) have tasty Korean tacos.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04pm
Threemoons:

@Ken, @Readie, thank you! Hopefully will get another gig soon, in which case I'll be back in the Coop with the rest of the flock. I still want to visit the WFMU HQ in JC one day when the dust settles...

Mark R:

"Machine Gun" is always fantastic. Not the Experience, of course, but the Band of Gypsys, but who cares? And yes, that's how Jimi spelled the plural of Gypsy. Polyus, drummer Buddy Miles is the other voice on this.
Avatar 1:49pm

After Jimi got famous, the Isley's never passed up a chance to remind people that Jimi had played in their band for about 30 seconds in 1964.

And why wouldn't they? Ernie Isley modeled his whole career after Jimi.

It was recommended to me by a former boss.
I also liked playing Bartok, Samuel Barber, etc than more tuneful pieces when I took piano lessons back in the day.
  2:31pm

Folks don't often realize that Barber wrote some knotty Modernist pieces, not just the lovely Adagio (which was originally for a string quartet).
Avatar 2:31pm

I loved anything modern. My teacher was kind of surprised, because I actually put feeling into my playing then.
