Writing in from my new office. In this new non-cavelike space, it's like I'm listening to a totally 'nother radio show.

Hi, Irwin, Chusidians, and the like-minded.

Loved Memoirs of an Amnesiac. Funny guy even hopped up on, what was it, chloral hydrate? Thanks for that memory, IC.

When I purchased the new Bran Flakes, I was temporarily stumped after payment when I went to download it and saw "Help Me." I thought, no, I don't want help, I want to download! Oh.... right! LOL.

AP--did you change jobs or trade in the cave for a better space?

Both - same building, same floor. Different office, boss, work. Less vernal and interesting view but more natural light.

@thatpatsmith I was just about to say, if you'd put a gun to my head and asked me who did this song, I'd have probably said the Zombies. Knew the song from Nuggets, but never knew who it was-- great stuff.

Thanks for finding a less-known and pea-pickin'-culiar tune with Glen Campbell.

Avatar 4:15pm

Dear jan, yes. My father-in-law operated a TV repair shop in NJ for decades and the place was full of tubes of all makes. I still have a box of them just because I think they're cool looking.

@jan et al: Why yes, I'm listening to Irwin and Shep right now through a gizmo which uses 6BZ7 triodes in its voltage-amplification stage.

Interestingly, these are being used for audio-frequency amplification even though they were apparently originally designed for RF.

@jeff- Listening through Sonos... radio reception of WFMU was always so noisy in Manhattan. What a boon internet broadcast is for hearing WFMU- here in it's natural FM
range and well outside and at any time, too! @itzall Ablurr- wish that we could take a field trip to the TV repair store. Those were wonderful places- long gone.

One of my one-night-stand insta-bands c.1979 was Goddamn Tractor. We played a party, made it through an improvised tune drawing lyrics (in French) from Sartre's autobiography, Les Mots, then proceeded to our cover of "Motorcade," midway through which the cops arrived.
