Morning, Carmichael. Windham Hill would be a much cleaner recording ;). This guy was cool, pressed up a couple hundred records and would often leave them on trails in California for folks to pick up.

I know folks who maintain "trail magic" traditions by leaving donuts and muffins and such on the trail for Appalachian Trail thru-hikers. Like to see the faces of music finders at discovery time.

I got one of those crank radios after Sandy and it was disappointingly lame -- it has to be cranked about every 30-60 seconds! IDK if they're all like that. Maybe prepper maniacs have better ones.

I have never understood the hype over 77-78 shows. The piano always sounded like ass in the mix, so many long Not Fade's at half-speed tempo, a bloated sound really taking root overall. Give me 73-74 any day.

@ chris -- That's what I said about my bike. If some criminally inclined middle-of-the-night passerby sees an opportunity, I don't think he appraises the item closely or calculates the deed's cost-benefit. I think he wants either a handy ride, or any measly dollars he can get for it later. Value enough. (Bike rematerialized in front of residence within hours and I never knew where it went or with whom.)

There are a bunch of great 77-78 shows. Most heads would probably agree that 72-74 was their greatest era though. To each their own.

I enjoyed it, but unfortunately, I wasn't really a fan before or after it so I wasn't too attentive or retentive, though of course I've heard the show praised by those in the know, conversationally and in print. (Boston Globe in 2015 ranked band's top five shows ever at the Garden, May '77 = #1.) I remember getting out of our shitty sits and moving around to aisle stair spots as we were shooed along by staff. And I remember a few of us buying brown/chocolate trip material from someone in the crowd, but it didn't do nuthin'.
