Howdy-ee, Cheyenne. DJT just tweeeted from Bedminster that giving away music for free is a terrible business model. Hoo boy. Like he ought to know.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

I'm not on the tweeter myself, but I'm fairly confident that statement came out or will soon.

Diggin' the Howse!
Avatar 3:23pm
Cheyenne:

Ha. Well, whether or not it's true, lotsa musicians are finding success and bigger audiences by letting people listen to & download their music for free.

Haven't heard this Javelin....

Dean:

Doesn't DJT routinely give away his salary as POTUS? That's a good business model?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29pm
listener james from westwood:

DJT couldn't find his ass in the dark. I'd go the the fucking RIAA for downloading advice before him.
Avatar 3:30pm
Cheyenne:

Pretty sure he's just saying that, Dean. I'm sure it's going to re-sod some private golf course somewhere

Crazy Cat Lady is fun.
The model these days, since artists can't sell CD's or other stuff, is get an audience, then hopefully they come to your concerts and buy your T-Shirts. (I missed the memo, still buy music)

melinda:

I miss my kitty.
Avatar 3:35pm
Cheyenne:

Yeah DrJ - lots of artists use the "exposure first, then make money" model well-known to many graphic artists as well. Interesting to see how technology is turning a lot of previous distribution models on their heads.
Avatar 3:35pm
Cheyenne:

Aw, sorry to hear that, melinda!

Up to three cats you're good (depending on the size of your domicile).

I love cats but I'm not the type who can have many at one time.
Avatar 3:40pm
northguineahills:

I'm looking forwarding to finally getting a puppy in about 6 months. I live close enough to work that I can come home at lunch, I could never do that in NYC.

I had to give my kitty to a good friend when I moved b/c my Brooklyn landlord at the time refused pets. That cat hates me for a good hour when I visit but then forgives me. It still loves playing fetch.
Avatar 3:42pm
Cheyenne:

Puppies are so much work!! it takes a dedicated person to raise a lil doggo. I'm much more a cat person (they're pretty autonomous). My cat plays fetch too, but only with one specific toy (which she knocks under the couch all the time).

I had the luck to see them live before I ever heard a recording of them. Mind-blowing.

Have an 8 year old pooch (see icon), and a 4 month old puppy. I thought the 8 year old (Ozzie) was still a puppy, active playful. Then we got a puppy. Man, she's exhausting (Maxie), lots of work (forgot what it was like 8 years ago). Adorable though...
  3:50pm
melinda:

Dogs are too much work for me. But even cats benefit from more training and effort than I used to think they needed. Before I get another one I want to figure out how to prevent counter-walking and furniture scratching, maybe some enrichment activities to make indoor life more satisfying.
  3:52pm
melinda:

What Cheer was here recently.
Avatar 3:54pm
Cheyenne:

We put sticky sheets on the couch corners and bought a big carpet covered tube for scratching. Seems to have ended the campaign of furniture destruction pretty well!

I somehow seem to be good w/ all animals (mosquitoes notwithstanding). Not sure why... I have been studying various animal behavior since I was a kid, animal behavior (thank you public libraries) and try be aware of their wants and needs.

My grandmother was the head of of the WV AKC, she had a good library, and taught empathy as the way to train dogs, empathy also work for cats (if you don't let them walk all over you).

Thanks Cheyenne!

Reminds me of the Steven Wright joke about naming his dog Stay just to confuse it. "Sit, Stay. Sit, Stay."

you are correct, What Cheer is a punk brass band. I saw them live a few years ago. Quite good
