Hi, Jim. I'm sure I heard a song long ago with lyrics "Nuclear attack," but I have no idea what was the song title or the artist. I found nothing helpful in Google.

I Jim, I am outside the likely blast radius, here in rainy Manchester, England.

And then the final twenty minutes of the show melts down into some Metal Machine Music!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29am

I think that was on one of the mid-90's Tears For Fears albums.

Can you play 'Drop That Bomb' by Tiffany off her sophomore effort 'Hold An Old Friend's Hand'?
Avatar 3:46am
Vincent Nifigance:

Yes it's the one preceded by 'Walk Away While You Can'!!! Either one would do.
Avatar 3:52am

Okay, the titular track from Megadeth's Rust In Peace.

I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain.

It's such a complete work. Too easily dismissed. Listen to this! Is glorious!!!!

J Dream:

The elusive, hallowed 8 track version of this really is the ideal format for this. Realizing
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:23am
Jim the Poet:

Yeah, I'm not sure why it's still never gotten the respect it deserves. I used to love to listen to it on the Subway.
  5:26am
J Dream:

I think the myth around it being Lou's "fuck you" to get out of contract is a bit conflated. It's not for everyone so I guess easy to dismiss. Similarly, I loved his new age record much later. Everyone laughed...

I think more than ever we live in a society that just enjoys feverishly liking and disliking certain things depending on what sort of cultural currency it has/how it makes them appear to others.

I once owned "Metal Machine Music" on 8 track. It was in the 99 cent bin and I kept it with me to put in friends 8 track car players to make the Led Zeppelin stop. I did not have an 8 track player but it was still well worth the 99 cents.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:34am
Jim the Poet:

How was the sound on 8 tracks?
  5:34am
J Dream:

Hey, I'm just a really big Lou fan. Have been for years. I tend to enjoy his more severe oddball excursions more as I get older. True artist. Gave no shits. That's more and more rare these days.
  5:35am
hOLLYWOOD BILL:

Hey b k- Do you still have it, and what's the price?
  5:35am
J Dream:

Whoa you scored it for 99 cents????
  5:37am
J Dream:

Rare one
  5:39am
b k:

I bought it for 99 cents in 1977!!! Same time I bought Be Bop DeLuxes' "Sunburst Finish" in the 99 cent bin.
  5:40am
hOLLYWOOD BILL:

It was a very good year

There should be an installation of as close to Lou's original MMM set-up as can be replicated, permanently installed in NYC somewhere, where it can generate itself forever. Might have to be in a disused subway station to minimise disturbance, but still, it's the thought that counts!
