Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:06am Ken From Hyde Park:

Hi, Jim. I'm sure I heard a song long ago with lyrics "Nuclear attack," but I have no idea what was the song title or the artist. I found nothing helpful in Google.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:08am Jim the Poet:

it's the effort that counts
  3:08am Jeff in Whately:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:25am chad from oregon:

We'll all be Forever Young... because after nuclear annihilation, we won't age! It's winning all around!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26am Jim the Poet:

You see the pattern that's forming here
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27am Vincent Nifigance:

I Jim, I am outside the likely blast radius, here in rainy Manchester, England.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28am chad from oregon:

And then the final twenty minutes of the show melts down into some Metal Machine Music!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29am Jim the Poet:

The last hour of the Show is just Metal Machine Music
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:30am chad from oregon:

I'm totally staying up now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33am Jim the Poet:

STAY OUT OF THE BLAST RADIUS
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34am chad from oregon:

I think that was on one of the mid-90's Tears For Fears albums.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35am chad from oregon:

Stay Out Of The Blast Radius (Of My Love), Josephine
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:45am Vincent Nifigance:

Can you play 'Drop That Bomb' by Tiffany off her sophomore effort 'Hold An Old Friend's Hand'?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:46am Vincent Nifigance:

Yes it's the one preceded by 'Walk Away While You Can'!!! Either one would do.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52am Vincent Nifigance:

Okay, the titular track from Megadeth's Rust In Peace.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01am Vincent Nifigance:

NO FUCKING WAY!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:03am Vincent Nifigance:

Thanks Jim!!! Gah, so prescient, she never gets her due.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:08am Jim the Poet:

She's deep
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:34am Vincent Nifigance:

I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain.
  4:38am basement:

then trump is the quidzack shadarack!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:41am Vincent Nifigance:

@basement He always reminded me of Baron Harkonnen, but yes!
  4:45am basement:

Panic in the world : Bill Nelson
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:49am chad from oregon:

Only twelve minutes until the blast radius brings us the Metal Machine Music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:53am Jim the Poet:

I think if I play it all I may fall asleep
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:54am Vincent Nifigance:

It's decided then.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:00am Vincent Nifigance:

Give it to me.
Avatar 5:00am future transport:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:03am Smilty69:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:10am Jim the Poet:

Avatar 5:13am Sem Chumbo:

Been along for the last hour, Jim. Pretty great. Thank you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:14am Jim the Poet:

Thanks Sem!
  5:18am J Dream:

Ahhhhhhhh! You weren't kidding. I love this record so much...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:20am Jim the Poet:

I wouldn't kid about Metal Machine Music
  5:20am J Dream:

It's such a complete work. Too easily dismissed. Listen to this! Is glorious!!!!
  5:23am J Dream:

The elusive, hallowed 8 track version of this really is the ideal format for this. Realizing
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:23am Jim the Poet:

Yeah, I'm not sure why it's still never gotten the respect it deserves. I used to love to listen to it on the Subway.
  5:26am J Dream:

I think the myth around it being Lou's "fuck you" to get out of contract is a bit conflated. It's not for everyone so I guess easy to dismiss. Similarly, I loved his new age record much later. Everyone laughed...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:27am Vincent Nifigance:

I didn't even think Lulu was bad.
  5:27am J Dream:

I really liked Lulu actually
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:28am Vincent Nifigance:

I think more than ever we live in a society that just enjoys feverishly liking and disliking certain things depending on what sort of cultural currency it has/how it makes them appear to others.
  5:28am J Dream:

*Hudson River Wind Meditations is the "new age" record. It's excellent
  5:29am hOLLYWOOD BILL:

This sounds so good, Thanks! Early Modern Lovers would help as well
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:30am Jim the Poet:

They would
  5:32am b k:

I once owned "Metal Machine Music" on 8 track. It was in the 99 cent bin and I kept it with me to put in friends 8 track car players to make the Led Zeppelin stop. I did not have an 8 track player but it was still well worth the 99 cents.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:34am Jim the Poet:

How was the sound on 8 tracks?
  5:34am J Dream:

Hey, I'm just a really big Lou fan. Have been for years. I tend to enjoy his more severe oddball excursions more as I get older. True artist. Gave no shits. That's more and more rare these days.
  5:35am hOLLYWOOD BILL:

Hey b k- Do you still have it, and what's the price?
  5:35am J Dream:

Whoa you scored it for 99 cents????
  5:37am J Dream:

Rare one
  5:39am b k:

I bought it for 99 cents in 1977!!! Same time I bought Be Bop DeLuxes' "Sunburst Finish" in the 99 cent bin.
  5:40am hOLLYWOOD BILL:

It was a very good year
  5:42am b k:

oh, the sound on ANY 8 track was horrid.
  5:42am basement:

Truly doth remind one of sir glen campbell shorting out on the lineman he of late
  5:45am Marcel M:

nice metal machine

Thanks for jumping in, Jim! I'm on my way to Seattle
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:46am Jim the Poet:

Marcel! Clay says hi!
  5:48am Sometimes Jasmine:

Man this is immensely joyous, what a treat. I'm refusing to take phone calls whilst this is playing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:49am Vincent Nifigance:

There should be an installation of as close to Lou's original MMM set-up as can be replicated, permanently installed in NYC somewhere, where it can generate itself forever. Might have to be in a disused subway station to minimise disturbance, but still, it's the thought that counts!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:50am Jim the Poet:

Glad you guys enjoyed it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52am Vincent Nifigance:

Dance, Clay, DANCE!
  5:54am Marcel M:

yo clay!
  5:54am Davee:

Where am I?
  5:56am basement:

when does ringo get to sing?
Ive got blisters on me earlobes
  5:59am jess:

what is this? I bet Clay opens with a Glen Campbell song. wanna bet?
