Thanks for supplying sounds to block out my coworkers, who are noisy and rumbustious today. Also, I just discovered the word "rumbustious" (boisterious or unruly) today.
Avatar 1:08pm
Mary Wing:

I like that word, Ike; hope I can remember to use it soon.

Seems like you play Lush a fair amount. And I'm always chuffed* to hear it!

very pleased.

I wonder if "Solar Ass" is inspired by George Bataille's essay "Solar Anus"?
Avatar 1:48pm
Mary Wing:

Heh. Maybe...
  2:03pm
Dean:

Nope: "'Solar Ass’ was written as a love song to a donkey..." Bataille, OTOH, uh, https://theanarchistlibrary.org/library/georges-bataille-the-solar-anus

Hi NGH, did you move yet?

Good afternoon Mary and all. I'm happy to get 50% whatever instead of my usual negligible score

Yep, I moved, involved w/ the epic headache of getting auto insurance so I can pick up my motor carriage. Barely got four hours of sleep as I tried to go to bed 'early' last night w/ melatonin. two more puzzle pieces to be fixed by tomorrow.
Avatar 2:41pm

That's one hurdle almost done. When does the new job start?

Well, I'm back in the third grade....
Avatar 2:45pm
northguineahills:

@fred: I was in the middle of a late night move, and Daniel Menche was played, and I mentioned how you wanted to get him to appear at IRCAM. Then it appeared that before my comment posted, the real Daniel Menche commented. I wish I could remember which dj it was, the last few days have blurred.

PSA: If you're older then 18, and have a copious amount of vinyl, hire movers, even if there are no flight of stairs.
Avatar 2:52pm
northguineahills:

Now I remember why I used to....
Avatar 2:53pm
Mary Wing:

Oh that's annoying, these turntables don't turn off slowly like the ones in studio B do.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54pm
doctorjazz:

Love this English Beat, not so much at this speed.

When I moved (many years ago, much vinyl then, much less than now...), I had movers. They looked at the smallish LP cases, figured it was nothing much. By the end of the move, they were sticking pins in a doll with my likeness...
Avatar 2:55pm
northguineahills:

back to the phone, thanks Mary!

Mary, use a finger for a tiny bit of friction on the outside of the record. (I used to be accused of being a turntabilist).
Avatar 2:56pm
Mary Wing:

Yeah, I'm trying but it's a bother. So much for this great idea. :-P
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57pm
fred:

@ngh: I guess that dream got more unlikely though: I'd been working on a couple of guys who had a lot of influence on the residency process, but one left to start his own company. And the other is about to retire. I don't have the new guys' ear at all
Avatar 2:58pm

Dean:

The irony cuts both ways on this one. Arguably, we have DJT here in the US because a lot of well-placed voters--albeit not a majority--believe that expertise is overrated.
Avatar 4:57pm
Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Oh, I'm up next! Two hours, first a happyscape ("Swirled Freely") of musical electronics and wordly field recordings; then, a scaryscape "You Have Nowhere to Go (What's Wrong?)", an repurposing of Walter Murch's sound montage work in 1971's THX 1138.

Come play in just a few minutes! wfmu.org...
