I haven't had time to check the news, more depressing Trump/world news, from what I'm reading, wow! (supposed to go to Spain for vacation in September, this will make my wife incredibly anxious...)

@docjazz: A former colleague of mine is headed to Barcelona that month, too. I pointed out that one could plan a grand tour itinerary devoted to sites of recent attacks.

"With the hippies"? You're with everybody who dislikes mass murder! I imagine you & hippies also share an antipathy toward arthritis and ship sinkings too.

And, believe it or not, I bet you're "with Donald Trump" in opposing mass murder too. Although these days it seems if Trump says it's bad weather, some people would want people to think of them as pro-storm.

I just recently rewatched Taxi Driver last weekend. I had recommended it to a much younger coworker recently. I wonder how young people would view it these days.

When I saw Inland Empire in its initial run, it got to the point where people were laughing at the beginning of each new scene, simply at the fact that it was STILL GOING. Still, I may revisit it to combat withdrawals once TP ends.

I don't think the Woodsman is trying to get his cigarette lit. He might be asking for a nuclear explosion. I think it's *that* kind of light.

Saw "Crossroads" last Aug at MoMA and was transfixed. That sort of thing seemed a lot more distant before the election.

Greetings!
Twitchy hearing about Barcelona. The Ramblas is crowded with tourists, in summer especially. It's apparently very tough in Spain right now, lots of jobless, lots of homeless; but what can we do but live our lives and try to stay informed?
Most of us lived in a bubble of unreality in the 90s, at least to some extent; perhaps we just have a more realistic view now.
Trying so hard to stay "positive".

@L James FW: don't know that film but certainly going to seek it out.

They're doing a "Minimalist Music Cinema" series up here at the Harvard Film Archive next month-- a bunch of Bruce Conner, some shorts scored by the Theatre of Eternal Music, and (of course) Koyaanisqatsi.
