Best friend's older brother was station manager at the college radio station, KDVS, we had access to so many great records, to save us from the pop music wasteland of the time. Fav band was Tower of Power. Got a HS graduation gift from parents, a new ten-speed Schwinn (more sturdy than the foreign bicycles of the time) to start college that fall.

And, my aunt and uncle just got a new house down there. OTOH if she is stuck down there she will be with close family.

My Mom has all Sears stuff, and a service contract that my late Stepdad bought a zillion years ago, and because it's under warranty they take their own sweet time fixing ANYTHING. One trip to have a sleepy guy see what's wrong, another one for him to bring the wrong part, and a third or fourth visit to finally fix anything.

I am torn between waiting for the repairs like this time around, versus calling Some Guy the next time where they can pop off to the huge Home Depot for contractors out here in Astoria and get the fix done in one or two trips in two DAYS, not at least 2 weeks. My biggest fear is that since the thermostat and/or defrost timer is borked, the compressor will burn out and then I will be up the shit. Good luck out there!

	♥ 7:32am Threemoons: Mind you, the only reason why I didn't call Some Guy in the first place is that Queens and NYC in general is crawling with small repair shops--some of these guys are brilliant but some of them do things bass ackwards and you wind up doing 5 repairs over a month for $600 instead of just letting GE do it once for the same amount of money but only one bout of aggravation. Best friend's older brother was station manager at the college radio station, KDVS, we had access to so many great records, to save us from the pop music wasteland of the time. Fav band was Tower of Power. Got a HS graduation gift from parents, a new ten-speed Schwinn (more sturdy than the foreign bicycles of the time) to start college that fall.

My Mom has all Sears stuff, and a service contract that my late Stepdad bought a zillion years ago, and because it's under warranty they take their own sweet time fixing ANYTHING. I am torn between waiting for the repairs like this time around, versus calling Some Guy the next time where they can pop off to the huge Home Depot for contractors out here in Astoria and get the fix done in one or two trips in two DAYS, not at least 2 weeks. My biggest fear is that since the thermostat and/or defrost timer is borked, the compressor will burn out and then I will be up the shit. Good luck out there!
