Wm. Berger on drums!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:17am Glenn L:

  3:23am Mike tp:

Ralph n Norton having some chi knee still the Hong Kong gardens
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23am Glenn L:

Imbeciles was a James Kavoussi penned tune.
James on lead vocals and guitar for that one.
Although Wm. was the primary guitarist in the band, it was all down to who wrote what.
  3:25am markr:

Thanks for the Uncle Wiggly info, Glenn!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29am Glenn L:

You're quite welcome!
Your loyal engineer.
Your Ace From Exchange Place!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29am BnowB:

RIP WB .. still saddening... I still don't know how he passed. stroke form heart surgery?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:30am BnowB:

I hope it wasn't suicide.. i don't think so... its just my worst thought.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:31am Glenn L:

@BnowB No one knows. The family are strictly withholding details. I've been trying. I've been prying.
  3:32am <£tonigipBy^]4:

Here in Bulgarian mountains we like circle time , sounds extra good when the wolves howl
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33am BnowB:

I've not asked a word until now. I've been hoping for a bit more closure. Life doesn't always give us that. Your a good dude Glenn!
  3:33am markr:

Right now, this Bach music feels sort of like nice eulogy music for Wm. Without getting into too much detail, we've been told it was not a suicide.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34am BnowB:

Thanks MarkR thats a relief? I guess..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35am BnowB:

In the end i suppose it doesn't matter how. I just miss him.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36am Glenn L:

@BnowB Thank you! We've all been wanting closure. Still hoping to learn details privately.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37am BnowB:

Sorry to get deep about this; I shouldn't be prying.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:38am BnowB:

Thanks for understanding 35 year listener.. just you bloody DJ's become like family to us old timers. lol
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:38am BnowB:

WFMU everyone involved is like family to me.
  3:38am markr:

Wm. was deeply loved and admired by many, both those who knew him personally and those who only knew him over the air. It's only natural to want some answers and a sense of closure.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:39am BnowB:

Yea.. thanks..
  3:39am markr:

That family vibe is real and it's what makes FMU special to all of us. Thanks for your care and passion and dare I say love, BnowB
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:40am Glenn L:

I wouldn't have wound up at WFMU otherwise.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:40am BnowB:

Indeed much love. Im a child of WFMU lol since I'm 14 i think. I am what ya'll made me. lmao
  3:40am markr:

That was a tough transition to get right--I could have rocked that Bach all night, but I wanted to diversify, OK?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41am BnowB:

Of course lol you the master Mr Dj our lives are in your hands. lol
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41am Vincent Nifigance:

Hey Mark, any chance of getting 'The Evil Has Landed' by QOTSA today?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:42am Vincent Nifigance:

Good morning @BnowB. Trouble sleeping?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:43am BnowB:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:51am BnowB:

This monk is bliss!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56am BnowB:

Awesome story, i did not know. I went to a theatre show in Philly about Monks life, particularly the life in the mind of Monk.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56am Vincent Nifigance:

WOw, thanks Mark! This is pretty special.
  4:03am <£tonigipBy^]4:

That tony Williams album is one of best...always amaze when ppl don't know it. And Sam sam Sam Sam rivers :))))))))))
  4:04am markr:

The mind of Monk was a strange and fascinating place, wasn't it, BnowB?
  4:05am markr:

A lot of people get confused between the album "Life Time" and his later group Lifetime which was one of the first fusion groups. Both great but very very different sounds.
Avatar 4:08am pierre:

Bonjour Mark and all !
  4:11am markr:

Bienvenue Pierre. Heureux que vous puissiez nous rejoindre!
  4:12am Ricardo:

In Robert Plant I hear hints of Tim Buckley
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:14am BnowB:

The mind of Monk fascinates and haunts me Markr. I've known people I think musta been like Monk. Brilliant, genius like, yet.. marched to their own mental and social beat. Its a place to get lost. The mind of Monk.
  4:16am markr:

You always wonder if medication that might have made him more "normal" would have stunted his creative spirit and killed his inventiveness. Sensitive mental health professionals have sought that special combination for years. Uncaring professionals just sedate them all like zombies.
Avatar 4:19am pierre:

heureux d'être là
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:19am Sebastian:

Good morning!
  4:20am markr:

Morning Sebastion!
  4:20am markr:

Oops typo--Sebastian!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:21am Sebastian:

I'd love to be some sort of bastion!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:23am BnowB:

Markr your so right about mental health care.. I wonder the same about Monk just because well it was so evident. And help doesn't always stop the creative maybe it would have helped. I mean probably not.. Oh the life of the mind.....
  4:26am markr:

The early 80s were the relative dark ages for psychotropic meds, too. It was harder to pinpoint the treatment of one symptom/behavior without affecting a whole range of others. Those meds were truly blunt instruments.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:27am BnowB:

Yea your right about that.. Meds were blunt instruments.. thats so true!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31am Sebastian:

beautiful track
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:32am Fuzzy:

Wow -- was just thinking about over-the-top wankery like that last one versus something short, sweet and righteous like Love's "My Little Red Book," which I can play over and over again -- and here they are!
Avatar 4:41am Sem Chumbo:

Yeah, here to hear a platter that rocks. What's all this about kittens, now?
Good morning, Mark, Circulars.
  4:43am markr:

Andy Williams done lost his natch'l mind, baby.
Avatar 4:45am CDToaster:

OMG you blew my mind with The House of Bamboo! Grew up to that song and haven't heard it since!!!! Amazing! I can hardly wait to send this to my brother younger by 1 year who'll definitely remember it and freak out. Thanks Mark a thousand times!
  4:45am markr:

I believe he was saying that this "House of Bamboo" was a propitious establishment to meet members of the opposite sex.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:47am Vincent Nifigance:

This Larry Coryell track is propelling me forward this morning.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:47am Vincent Nifigance:

New one on me, thanks so much Mark.
Avatar 4:49am CDToaster:

I believe you're right - that's one of the things about it that drew our attention as well as the beat. Danceable Innuendo telling a story about a place you can imagine in your mind, especially as a young boy of around 10 I guess around '63. I'll check the release year. Thanks so much, Mark.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:50am Vincent Nifigance:

Chick Corea > North Korea.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:52am BnowB:

Well def, Not going back to bed now. No coffee for 4 days and I am ready to fall off the wagon. I need java.
  4:52am markreichard:

Or South Korea, for that matter.
Avatar 4:53am CDToaster:

Yeah that House of Bamboo was 1958 when I was 5. Loved it then and love it again. My brother will flip when I play this for him.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:54am Vincent Nifigance:

@MarkR Indeed, or my career!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:58am BnowB:

Dunkin Donuts opens in 4mins.. i can bike it 5. Jesus lives. I'll be on the headphones to prevent the wfmu jones.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:00am BnowB:

Irwin did a great WB show. I'm loving THIS show Ty mark R ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:06am Vincent Nifigance:

@BnowB I only ever had Dunkin' Donuts Coffee once, it was in New York in the late 90s, so maybe they've upped their game. I was not impressed. A corner store does a better cup, must be one of those open, surely.
  5:06am markr:

Remember to hit me up with your John Lennon requests for my October 9th show, you guys.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:09am BnowB:

  5:17am markr:

People get very precious about coffee. My regular everyday is Chock Full o' Nuts. I have a place in the neighborhood that roasts their own beans, and I make weekends special by grinding some of them up and brewing that in my standard Joe blow coffeemaker, not a French press or anything.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:18am Fuzzy:

Chock Full o' Nuts New York Roast is a homebrew favorite of mine. Currently drinking 365 (Whole Foods) Glory Days medium roast.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:20am Vincent Nifigance:

@MarkR Re: Lennon, I love 'Serve Yourself' a demo from the Signature Box, but it's pretty profane. 'Girls and Boys' is great.
  5:22am markr:

I'm familiar with "Serve Yourself," I like it but it doesn't pass the FCC test. Folks, give me album titles when possible, it's very helpful. Beatles tracks are eligible, too.
  5:23am mice:

got any My Dad Is Dead ya could play? any album is good. divided house.
  5:24am markr:

Unfortunately, tonight's playlist is pretty booked up at this point--just a half hour left in the show. Maybe on a future show, though...
  5:26am mice:

cool. good show. also, that nels cline "lovers" is pretty sweet. thanks
