Ridgewood Radio features concert recordings by adventurous bands and experimental musicians and restored archival tapes from private and institutional collections captured at venues large and small across the five boroughs of New York. It is produced by David Weinstein and Outpost Artists Resources operating out of the Ridgewood section of Queens, NY, where you'll find more yellow bricks than on the road to Oz and the cemetery of your choice is never more than a few blocks from home.

Goodbye Blue Monday has a piano.

Jazz clubs tend to make the investment, but elsewhere it is spotty.

Really liking this Alcides Lanza, probably no relation to Mario Lanza.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:07pm
weinstein:

Ha. Seems unlikely, but that would be quite a family.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:42pm
northguineahills:

A who's who of whos in this ensemble.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:46pm
northguineahills:

That melody is really familiar....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:49pm
weinstein:

There is a melody outlined in the score, along with other completely non-musical notations.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:51pm
northguineahills:

I must have heard a different realization of this piece, b/c the instrumentation is nearly exact as well, but the whole piece doesn't sound identical to one I remember.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:52pm
weinstein:

Exactly the point. So many variables it can vary wildly.

Can I give in (to Kenzo!) without giving up?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:58pm

@NGH: that must be a much more recent recording yes?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:58pm
Stanley:

Well, I've been quietly enjoying this show from the beginning, along with a nice bottle of barley wine. A perfect match and thanks again David.
