Rob and Katie Dueling 45s: Indie Rock vs the Planet +
the Genre-Bending Sounds of Sandcatchers

Hear this show now: Pop-up listen Pop-up player! | Add or read comments

As part of WFMU’s annual Singles Going Steady Week, Rob ping-pongs tracks with better half Katie Gentile. Katie pits her collection of rare and classic vintage indie rock against Rob's vintage and contemporary global sounds - exclusively on 7" vinyl.

Plus: A live set from Sandcatchers - a stellar instrumental quartet whose music, in their words (and to our ears) is inspired "both by Arabic maqam and the Appalachian Trail". The band's debut album What We Found Along The Way is coming out later this month on the new artist-run label Chant Records. Sandcatchers join us ahead of a a big record release show Thursday night November 2nd at National Sawdust in Williamsburg.

I was just considering posting a comment that over the years singles going steady week was lessening my dislike of vinyl recordings (due to their poor quality when vinyl was the only option)...then, the record's stuck, the record's stuck...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:30pm Rob W:

Thanks Megaroni, hi everyone and yes, there is that problem Mitten John!
  6:34pm Katie:

Sandcatchers are based right here in NY actually. Xrina - in a way the b-side may be the best song. The first song on side A isn't bad though - you can hear it at www.youtube.com... .
