Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33am

just watched "jim & andy" last night. loved it. makes me wish he was actually going to play terence mckenna, like that bogus internet rumor. based on carey's interviews, think it'd do him some good!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36am

Reminds me I regret selling my Spacetime Continuum w/ Terrence McKenna cd years ago :(

Have you seen the Talking Heads: Chronology DVD? Has footage of that Kitchen show

in this economy people are drinking their bong water

I cleaned my bong today, not fun
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53am

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54am

Huh, NYCTaper is an acquaintance of mine, back on the Well, maybe twenty-five years ago. Still taping
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35am

did you say, the.... Well????
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35am

very much so; sort of franchised now. this was made by one of the tapers in his crew.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35am

That is a name I have not heard for a very long time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35am

and word up to the WELL. i am also a WELL-being, sorta. that is, i still hold/use a WELL email address for when gmail eventually eat itself.
Avatar 1:36am

Well, hi! I was scraps@well.com
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37am

<<<wide eyed>>> I dreampt of getting onto the Well....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38am

I did have usenet though....
Avatar 1:38am

Wow, he’s franchised? Very good!
Avatar 1:40am

grtyvr, the Well still exists. Though it’s a shell of itself...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49am

I will swing by to check it out. Had no idea it still existed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:09am

prepared piano?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12am

not sure. the track is from a wire magazine mix, so no detailed liner notes. googled around but not sure "przygotowane pianino" is an accurate translation.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16am

either prepared or just played like a guitar.....
sally g:

just read previous comments...can't belied the Well is still around! looked at their website and it says "artisanal conversation" haha sign of the times
sally g:

Sad abut Bernie Krause's house and archive. Weird coincidence about him...just the other day I listened to George Harrison's Electronic Sound and then Googled to get info. It turns out Krause accused Harrison of ripping him off...Harrison had recorded Krause without prior permission, and used the material on that record.
Avatar 2:40am

I just got 99 albums from Orange Milk label, for 56$. I really like Orange Milk’s taste, and I’m very satisfied.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:40am

whoa, didn't know about the bernie v. george kerfuffle. will have to look that up! under what circumstances did george record bernie without permission?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41am

awesome, scraps! yeah, i love their vibe. definitely one of my most played labels this year.
sally g:

Here's one account from a Rolling Stone article. I read other accounts too, including one on Krause's website:

Krause taught George Harrison how to Moog, and the teaching tapes, Krause said, wound up as one side of Harrison's first and only electronic album. "I said I hoped there'd be royalties or some sort of publishing, and he said 'No, I'll send you a couple of quid.' " They argued there in George's house in London, stoned and hungry ("He was into ecology and not eating meat"), and George, according to Bernie, ended it with a flat: "I'm a Beatle and I'm right; you don't have the humility that Ravi Shankar has."
Avatar 2:45am

They certainly got me on the price, too!
Avatar 2:49am

Somehow, I don’t think most anyone is capable of saying “I’m a Beatle and I’m right.” Just me, probably.
sally g:

Yeah, I think we have to take Bernie's account with a huge grain of salt.
Avatar 2:51am

Though I might try once I’m losing an argument....
Avatar 2:53am

“I’m a Beatle and you’re not.”
Avatar 2:56am

“Damn, I’m a Beatle.”
