I play music that is old and that is new. Some of it is digital while some is analog. It is from many different countries; sometimes it is loud and at other times it is quiet.

Poking in early to say hey hey, Mayuko and all!
Avatar 12:01pm fred:

Good afternoon Mayuko, james, Scraps, and others
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:01pm listener james from westwood:

No-bod-y beats the Phiz
Nobody beats the Phiz!
Avatar 12:04pm fred:

I actually met him when he played at a breakcore show (!) that also featured WFMU alum Jason Forrest
Avatar 12:05pm fred:

(meaning Ergo Phizmiz)
Avatar 12:08pm Mayuko:

Good afternoon, james and fred! That's so cool you met Ergo. I like that album.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08pm listener james from westwood:

Those two together, what a show! I caught Evolution Control Committee doing a live sample-fest at a Record Fair once, but I wish I'd caught that one too!
  12:09pm Rickwaukee:

Hey, Boo-Boo, let's rustle up some pic-a-nicable baskets!
  12:11pm Rickwaukee:

Google "Des Cochons" and click Images
Avatar 12:12pm fred:

He did a set that featured a toy piano, confusing many of the few in attendance
  12:13pm rbrt:

piggy pics!
  12:13pm rbrt:

hi hi
Avatar 12:13pm Mayuko:

@Rickwaukee OH MY GOD!!! That was not what I expected to see!!
Avatar 12:13pm Mayuko:

Hallos, rbrt! Happy Saturday to you!
  12:14pm rbrt:

same to you Mayuko! thanks for the picnic
  12:15pm rbrt:

so basically that track I favorited "L'Orgasme Des Cochons" means pig orgasm? lol
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Hi, Mayuko and bunch. December is an excellent time for a picnic. Hardly any ants, flies or pesky mosquitoes to mess things up.
  12:18pm David D:

into this set!
Avatar 12:20pm fred:

I saw Kukangendai this week, they played with Gozo Yoshimasu, but I didn't understand what the latter was saying. Confusing band: they seem to be from Kyoto, but they were dressed in black, though the (amazing) drummer had a gray T-shirt. Isn't Kyoto in the East?
  12:20pm Fern:

New favorite word: picnicable! Hi Mayuko!
Avatar 12:22pm Mayuko:

Ken, you got a very good point! Glad you dig David!! Welcome on board, Fern! Thanks all for tuning in.
  12:22pm P-90:

Greetings, Mayuko-DJ and Vertighosts!
  12:23pm rbrt:

"Vertighosts" :)))
  12:29pm Rickwaukee:

"I see Muppet people."
Avatar 12:31pm Mayuko:

@fred They're from some smarty-pants university in Tokyo which explains the black clothing. & I can never think of Gozo Yoshimatsu with a serious face any longer, a crazy song titled "Yoshimatsu Gozo" yelled by some crazy underground artist gets in my way. I heard it in a show somewhere in the west, perhaps Osaka. That silly performance was more impactful to me than the performance by Gozo himself that I had seen!
Avatar 12:34pm fred:

Damn, I should have asked you about him last week. There's a chance I could have got that song played before the set
  12:35pm JakeGould:

Hey Mayuko! What’s up?
Avatar 12:36pm Mayuko:

Hey, P-90, thanks for tuning in! Hallos my neighbor Jake!
Avatar 12:40pm Mayuko:

@fred I think Gozo might get offended if he hear that song I heard in Osaka though. I don't think anyone would feel too comfortable hearing your name being yelled over and over and over again along with some uneasy melody played on Casiotone.
Avatar 12:41pm Mayuko:

At least it might be a proof of how Gozo had been influential for younger artists, but.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm Doug Schulkind:

Good day, Mayuko and friends! Can't listen too closely 'cause I'm trying to write two last term papers for school. The Vertigo sounds very Playful today!
Avatar 12:47pm fred:

Apart from reading from a book, he mainly made a show of putting on a night mask before pouring paint down on a sheet of paper. I liked the band though, they certainly took themselves seriously but I liked their math rock with way fewer notes approach
  12:47pm JakeGould:

Gonna enjoy the day outside soon. Soonish. Maybe. Soon.
  12:47pm Rickwaukee:

Hearing this Mashed-up with Going Up the Country.
  12:50pm rbrt:

Gozo Yoshimatsu is same as Gōzō Yoshimasu ? (googling) :-( lol
Avatar 12:53pm fred:

"cochon" is french for "pig"
  12:56pm Rickwaukee:

Picnic = Things we did on grass
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Pro tip: If you're out camping on a low budget, a picnic table makes a good platform on which to set up your sleeping bag.
  12:57pm Rickwaukee:

Oh, play the XTC song w/ above title!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm listener james from westwood:

Yay for 3 hours and for museum-related work!
  12:58pm Rickwaukee:

I'm no picnic :(
Avatar 12:58pm fred:

Yeah for 3 hours!!!
  12:59pm rbrt:

never stop picnicking!
  1:00pm rbrt:

this Nevera de Picnic is a happy tune
  1:02pm Rickwaukee:

In keeping with theme, I am eating lunch DURING the show for a change. My tummy is inside, but my mind is outside taking in the lovely view of the music.
Avatar 1:03pm Mayuko:

Good afternoon, Doug!!! Good luck with the papers!!
  1:04pm Rickwaukee:

I will wait until an hour after the show before I go 'swimming' in memories.
Avatar 1:05pm Mayuko:

Sorry, yes it's yoshimaSu... I added T by mistake!!!
  1:07pm rbrt:

Avatar 1:09pm Mayuko:

Yah, Picnic = Things we did on grass was close to my idea. I didn't know the food was a MUST when picnicking... can't picnic without a meal!!!!! Though scenery is not a must can be optional.
  1:10pm Rickwaukee:

Over and over we flatten the clover *wink*
  1:14pm Rickwaukee:

This sounds 'Wire'-y
Avatar 1:15pm fred:

Someone asked me for WFMU show recommendations yesterday, 4 out of 5 turned out to be on the drummer stream. So I had to try to explain how to get to the archives; I hope I managed to do it (he's mainly using his phone though, so I'm not all that useful)
  1:18pm rbrt:

what are some other good shows fred? I never have time to go through the drummer stream
  1:22pm JakeGould:

There has to be a special word for just lounging on the grass staring into nowhere… Like Christina in the painting “Christina’s World.”
Avatar 1:23pm fred:

@rbrt: "good" depends of what you like, so try shows. I recommended Mayuko's, Ridgewood Radio, Bodega Pop, Kenzo's and Olivia's, but that's also because of what I knew of the person's interests, and of the shows he already knows (like Shruken Planet, which he already knows and likes)
  1:24pm rbrt:

Avatar 1:27pm Mayuko:

In terms of our archives, wfmu.org/drummer would be the easiest way to navigate people to our "pick un niche" locations I think.
Avatar 1:31pm fred:

I like this Gajek track
Avatar 1:34pm Mayuko:

Just lounging on the grass staring into nowhere is no-picnic. It is a popular activity and therefore definitely needs a new term of its own!!!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36pm Fox:

I'm listening live for the first time ever! Hello everyone!
Avatar 1:37pm fred:

This Ravenstine/Dennis track is great too!
  1:38pm Rickwaukee:

Howdy, Fox.
Avatar 1:38pm Mayuko:

Hello Fox!! Happy to have you here!
  1:39pm Rickwaukee:

This track is checking off all the boxes for the synth sounds of the 70s
  1:47pm rbrt:

this track is like a dream
Avatar 1:49pm northguineahills:

Woke from a nap, and got here for the end.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49pm listener james from westwood:

how do, Fox!
  1:50pm rbrt:

you're in luck northguineahills, 3 hours today
Avatar 1:51pm northguineahills:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52pm listener james from westwood:

LOL @ "tree pimp"!
  1:52pm Rickwaukee:

Spruce better have my money!
  1:53pm Rickwaukee:

Xmas trees got as ridiculous as raking up all leaves - American Psycho
  1:56pm P-90:

Thank you so much for the extra hour, Mayuko!
Avatar 1:57pm fred:

I hope you'll go three hours too when you come back
  2:00pm rbrt:

♡ your tree Mayuko! wfmu.store...
Avatar 2:04pm Mayuko:

Good to have you here for the extra vertigo, northguineahills!
Avatar 2:05pm Mayuko:

ah, thanks for posting the link rbrt! made my job here easier!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm listener james from westwood:

Clicky star for Lazy Salon!
  2:20pm rbrt:

snow definitely deadens noises...picnic in the snow!
Avatar 2:22pm fred:

This Takaaki track is very nice too
Avatar 2:24pm Mayuko:

yah! love this whole album.
Avatar 2:26pm northguineahills:

About to start to put my broken cd tower together (already salvaged one, but this one is in its individual pieces). I got pin nails, and wood glue, but couldn't find an adequate right angle clamp.
Avatar 2:27pm fred:

I would love to see a dance show using this as a soundtrack
Avatar 2:30pm Mayuko:

why did your cd tower got destroyed, northguineahills???
Avatar 2:31pm Mayuko:

@fred Takaaaki should do that!
Avatar 2:32pm northguineahills:

Movers weren't too careful moving them from Brooklyn. 3 survived intact.
Avatar 2:36pm Mayuko:

Whoa, that's terrible!!!
  2:37pm rbrt:

at least the pieces made it? :-(
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm listener james from westwood:

Avatar 2:39pm northguineahills:

Yeah, the pieces made it, but sow of the dawls broke some of the fiber board broke off at the joins making this hard work. I would just buy new ones, but they don't make them any more.

I thought this sounded like Apex!
  2:41pm rbrt:

oh that fiber board stuff is hard to fix..epoxy!
Avatar 2:43pm northguineahills:

I got epoxy. I'm going to try wood glue and pin nails first, and only epoxy for the more broken parts.
Avatar 2:43pm northguineahills:

W2F sounds very German 80s.
Avatar 2:45pm fred:

@NGH: "they don't make it anymore". That was my "welcome to old age" moment
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:48pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I ordered some shoes online and found out they're delivered to Kame-Apart, not to Sears. Now to drive back across town. Life is no picnic today. Thanks, Mayuko and see you in a couple weeks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:49pm listener james from westwood:

Enjoy your break, Mayuko, and thanks for the sonic picnic today!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:49pm Fox:

Yay! Thank you for a lovely afternoon of music, Mayuko!
  2:50pm rbrt:

thanks Mayuko!
  2:51pm rbrt:

Hope everyone as a pleasant weekend!
  2:51pm rbrt:

+h >:D
Avatar 2:52pm northguineahills:

Nice Faustian cover.

Thanks Mayuko!
  2:58pm Rickwaukee:

"You Doo-Dooettes out there in the garage in 1978 can have one can of RC Cola each, and ONLY one, and if I catch any of you setting them down on my new Cordoba I will wring your neck!"
Avatar 2:58pm Mayuko:

Thanks again everyone for listening!!! Have a great week!!
Avatar 3:00pm fred:

Have a great week, Mayuko, and be back longer soon
  3:01pm Rickwaukee:

It will be almost Christmas next time! Thank you, Mayuko
  3:01pm mzm:

HI mayu OKINAWA was over 80 degrees! some parts were speachless beautiful, some areas were infuriating.
Avatar 3:50pm Mayuko:

Oh hey mzm! Jealous you were there in Okinawa!! I'm 100% sure it was a great trip!
