Music for the revolution in my head: choogling punks; power pop, both skinny-tied and long-haired; soul shouters and girl groups; bubblegum and acid rock; global fuzz; weirdos and outsiders, and the Weirdos and the Outsiders; Archie Shepp and J. Geils. Plus, live bands.

Jessi was a sucky loss for sure, so young.
I remember seeing those darlins at Maxwells in Hoboken.

Got started w/ Weasels, then went back for the 10 that preceded it, and kept listening for the next 13, winding up w/ Zoot Allures.
Maybe the inspired lyrics coupled by explorations of rhythms layered over musique concrète, his guitar improvisations, and ever-changing choice of playmates was just too much to ignore. Didn't get everything he was doing but the more I heard the more I wanted to follow along.
Plus, I liked a man w/ a serious long term soul patch before it became a thing.

I also think the mic placement was interesting for some of the "foreground" sounds. My compliments to the engineer.
