Native to Northern Japan and Korea, it is the root stock for most Florida orange trees because of it's tolerance to low temperature. @fred: what are the odds it will be the garb of Krishna Consciousness devotees?

Apparently it's an egg with a developed chicken in it- best eaten at about 16 days of gestation... anybody hungry?

	12:51pm Sem: Ah, bourbon-barrel aged! Man, Jack Daniels has some of its barrels in every small distillery, winery, brewery and cidery in North America...I shudder to think how much Jack goes down American gullets every year. Bill: Bryce put me onto that. Ummmm, no thanks.

I'm about 75 km north of where commercial orange groves start, but you see a few yards here and there that have citrus trees. @Stanley: Gainesville is equidistant from the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic (about 95 km from either) and a womping 60m above sea level, so, it usually gets below freezing 5-7 times per year, but usually not until January. What's unusualy is that it's 12C in the afternoon and it usually gets back up to at least 18C when it gets cold.

	12:56pm coelacanth∅: Sem, i've always been thankful that some people have such shitty taste in whiskey (or, rather, are easily sucked into thinking a particular product is cool because of the marketing) because of the good things that can be done with jack daniels barrels.

	12:58pm Sem: True that, coel. The rum produced at the little place I'm associated with is something of a sensation here, where one bottle of three spirits sold is rum of one kind or another. The product is aged for a year in JD barrels, and it is a magic transformation.

	1:05pm fred: @Sem: I once had a whisky aged in a rum barrel (one of Ichiro's card series) and wasn't convinced it was a good idea. The rum side was too strong

	1:11pm fred: @Stanley: I'm all for experimentation, so I embrace failure. To me, if you never fail, you're not really experimenting. I can how aging rum in JD barrels could work better as well

	1:50pm northguineahills: There are a few Filipino restaurants in Jacksonville, a bit over an hour drive from here, but, I doubt they would have balut if the Filipino restaurants in NYC didn't have it.

Some times we lose track of people then they come back into our lives and the friendship is stronger because we kind of pick up the pieces and do not have to start over again. The old jokes and such are all there to be enjoyed afresh. It does remind us of our mortality more than someone of another generation. The Philipinos I have worked with have been lovely people, caring and thoughtful. Onward we go. X

I'm about 75 km north of where commercial orange groves start, but you see a few yards here and there that have citrus trees. @Stanley: Gainesville is equidistant from the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic (about 95 km from either) and a womping 60m above sea level, so, it usually gets below freezing 5-7 times per year, but usually not until January. What's unusualy is that it's 12C in the afternoon and it usually gets back up to at least 18C when it gets cold.

Some times we lose track of people then they come back into our lives and the friendship is stronger because we kind of pick up the pieces and do not have to start over again. The old jokes and such are all there to be enjoyed afresh. It does remind us of our mortality more than someone of another generation. The Philipinos I have worked with have been lovely people, caring and thoughtful. Onward we go. X
