Nels Cline/Gerald Cleaver/Larry Ochs are playing tonight in a theater in Philly, but it's a "school night", and I was out last night think I'll just take it easy...

it's obvious that i'm not closed to it.
...it is fundamentally limited, so it's my constant craving for new sounds that makes me NOT like most of it.

As John Peel said I may not like Merzbow but I would fight to the death to have it played on the radio.

the overwhelming majority of hiphop is formuliac; recycled for the sake of money.
there are of course bright shining star exceptions.

i seek new music every day, and i hear new music often, introduced to me by my chosen (non-fmu) family that i never would've heard otherwise; and it's easy to say that the overwhelming majority of new sound that doesn't seem recycled and uninspired is not rap/hiphop oriented. (and i had a respectable rap/hiphop collection before many of these friends were born)

- many times i've seen rap turn an entire pub into a room full of tough-guy poseurs.
