I’m standing across the street waiting for the light to change, when these guys with instruments come up behind me, we talk for a minute, yeah we are backing up Darlene 2night. Guy with a bass drum that said “The Smithereens. Must have been around ‘83? A month or so later, Ronnie Spector @ Heartbreak on a Wed. night. GUESS WHO THE BACKUP BAND WAS? Wacky.

Record Plant was our NY home base. We also cut at Capitol Tower, A&M (both in Hollywood), Magic Shop in NYC, Fidelitorium in NC, etc.

	10:10am Parq: Saw the Smithereens back at the Dirt Club in Bloomfield in early '82. They were so new on the scene that they were actually opening for a cornball Beatles tribute band that night. Met DiNizio briefly -- sure seemed like a nice guy. So said to hear about his loss.
