Someone I knew used to have to keep at least a finger out the top of the window when she was small -- like a snorkel, for a taste of breeze that could help avert motion sickness; crucial if riding in a back seat. Even a flight-capable reindeer might need it if you change things up on 'er.

The gift stigma I've never understood is when people think it's improper to give used items as gifts (books, records, etc). I always LOVE getting used gifts-- there's a better chance of getting something truly weird, and it shows they went out of their way to find something that reminds them of you.

Best gift I got to give a friend was a record signed by the guy she had a crush on at Mystery Train Records on Newbury St. The guy was the singer of Gigolo Aunts. She was embarrassed and excited all at the same time. Wonder if she still owns it.... since this was back in High School....
