Kris...my man.

Kris Holmes:

Heya Michael! Your Xmas day was good?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05pm
Uncle Michael:

Yeah, very relaxed. We keep it low-key.
  10:06pm
little danny:

Hey Kris, all! Just got back to Marfa minutes ago - passed thru a foggy San Antonio earlier today
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:06pm
Uncle Michael:

How about you and the mrs.?

Danny!
Avatar 10:08pm
Kris Holmes:

Yeah we were extremely low key, all we did was go see Star Wars in 3D last night, didn't leave the house or do much else otherwise.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:08pm
Uncle Michael:

2D for me, today. Then made gumbo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:10pm
David D:

Hey, Kris, a pleasure to precede you and then hear you today. And hi Michael and Danny!
Avatar 10:10pm
Kris Holmes:

Hi Dan. You went home for Xmas? SA was def foggy this morning. Did you fly to SA, then Midland or El Paso?
Avatar 10:11pm
Kris Holmes:

Thanks for the Apache nod David, 6 hour show? Legendary!!
Avatar 10:12pm
still b/p:

Hiya.
It's the "sounds like" syndrome. The first few sung lines of Can I Say It Again sounded a lot like I Want You Back. But then the similarity was lost further on.

13 degrees here, headed to 4. Tomorrow below zero with the wind. Maybe wind chills of 80 below up on Mt. Washington later this week!
Avatar 10:12pm
Kris Holmes:

I don't think the 3D cut is overly necessary of this installment.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13pm
Uncle Michael:

Sorry I missed your marathon, David. Kitchen afternoon and evening, then I finished Revenge of the Sith. Watched all nine films in the last few weeks. Sunday I watched the whole original trilogy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13pm
Uncle Michael:

It was 7 degrees when I left for the movie today.
Avatar 10:14pm
Kris Holmes:

the similarity to I Want You Back has been noted
  10:14pm
little danny:

We were in Austin with JD's family, came through San Antonio on our way back to pick up a mass shipment of votives from an old school Catholic candle company. Long story
Avatar 10:15pm
Kris Holmes:

oh big day on the road then!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15pm
Uncle Michael:

You should try six hours sometime, Kris. I do about one a year. It's fun.
  10:16pm
little danny:

You ultra-marathon cats are a different breed. I'm exhausted after 2 hours
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17pm
David D:

I agree entirely - the time goes by really fast for me.
Avatar 10:17pm
Kris Holmes:

Ugh, I've done fours back in NZ before. Not sure I could stomach six.
Avatar 10:17pm
Kris Holmes:

Although I have DJd six hours before at gigs
Avatar 10:18pm
still b/p:

I've got relatives under the Erie record-breaking dump, including a family member who can't get outa there when she intended to.

You planning a most mad massive luminaria display in the yard for New Year's Eve, Danny?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18pm
Uncle Michael:

I think Kurt G. did about 7.5 on the stream when either Prince or Bowie died.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:20pm
David D:

Danny, try it some time, maybe you'll get your second wind...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:21pm
Uncle Michael:

wfmu.org...

Kurt's seven hours.
  10:22pm
little danny:

They should grant you a US citizenship just for going to Star Wars 3D. You're 110% America all the way
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:24pm
Uncle Michael:

If I was to list my top ten non-Al Hi tracks...this would be one.
  10:25pm
little danny:

Hey still b/p! I love luminaria but they don't seem like much of a thing around here for some reason. I'm guessing they're more of a thing in San Antonio (as they were in Austin)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:25pm
David D:

That's right, we need to find an English-language screening of Star Wars at some point. Would you say it's worth it?
Avatar 10:27pm
Kris Holmes:

yeah it's worth seeing
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27pm
Uncle Michael:

It's big, dumb entertainment of the first order. Who doesn't need a little spectacle?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:30pm
David D:

Sounds perfect - now we need to see when it's on in English (dubbing is the general rule here).
Avatar 10:32pm
Kris Holmes:

we drove 2.5 hours to Odessa to see the last one in 3D.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:33pm
David D:

Okay, that's dedication!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:34pm
Little Danny:

I would like to see any of your top ten lists of non-Al Hi tracks
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:34pm
Little Danny:

Not being the southern soul aficionado I don't really know my way around the label that much
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:35pm
Little Danny:

Would also like to see some top ten lists of Stax/Volt obscurities

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:40pm
Little Danny:

@UM: Oh, definitely! I've downloaded that Stax collection myself. I actually think I have a reasonable grasp of Stax/Volt's catalog at this point, just would be interested in others' faves
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:41pm
Uncle Michael:

There's a companion Stax rarities box coming out. I guess complete wasn't quite...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:42pm
Little Danny:

When is your all-NZ episode gonna happen, Kris? Not joking here
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:43pm
Uncle Michael:

www.amazon.com...
Avatar 10:44pm
Kris Holmes:

hmm, all NZ? Probably not soon hahaha.
Avatar 10:45pm
Kris Holmes:

although, now you have got me thinking
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:45pm
Uncle Michael:

Oh, come on...you can do 2 hours of Flying Nun stuff, alone.
Avatar 10:45pm
Kris Holmes:

sold it all
Avatar 10:48pm
Kris Holmes:

I feel like Flying Nun is kinda done to death too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:48pm
Little Danny:

Oh, man, easily six hours of quality '60s NZ surf/beat/pop/punk/psych, no? You might have to resort to compilations but still
Avatar 10:48pm
Kris Holmes:

I could do a 2 hour show of that stuff no problem
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49pm
Uncle Michael:

you do it Danny!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:50pm
Uncle Michael:

you do it Kris!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:50pm

Haha, at the age of 44 I have just begun my own deep dive into Flying Nun. You say Chills, I say Look Blue Go Purple, it's all fresh to me
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:51pm

Uncle Michael:

Someone on FMU did a pretty cool FN thing not long ago...Brian Turner, maybe.

Yep.

wfmu.org...
Avatar 10:53pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:53pm

I'm down!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54pm
Uncle Michael:

Getting to be time for me to brush my teeth and say my prayers.
Avatar 10:54pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:55pm
David D:

Time for me to head home before dawn - thanks, Kris and good night everyone...
