Ridgewood Radio features concert recordings by adventurous bands and experimental musicians and restored archival tapes from private and institutional collections captured at venues large and small across the five boroughs of New York. It is produced by David Weinstein and Outpost Artists Resources operating out of the Ridgewood section of Queens, NY, where you'll find more yellow bricks than on the road to Oz and the cemetery of your choice is never more than a few blocks from home.

Good afternoon David, Ruth, and listeners

listener james from westwood:

Hello, frozen Ridgewood and icy folks in scattered climes!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:04pm
steveo:

Hello Ridgewoodians!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm
david w:

Hello all! And yes we are frozen here this week. It's not historic but its been a few years and we are due.

doctorjazz:

Hi, like this (busy in the office, likely the last you'll hear from me, but enjoying the sounds). Happy New Year!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:11pm
david w:

Thanks, doc. And I'll stop chatting about weather, with folks like fred and james so far away from here how dull can one be?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20pm
fred:

I like this Long Distance Poison. The kind of music that probably sounds much better in person
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22pm
david w:

True, Fred, they spend a lot of care on spatial stuff, tuning the room, and spontaneity.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 3:32pm
Sem:

Hi, David, all. Been absorbed by these tracks, thanks so much!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm
david w:

For the spoken texts, Bob Jones is feeding cards into a reader, probably from the sixties.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34pm
david w:

Thanks, Sem. Honored.

Mark R:

This Bob Jones shit is really fucking cool. I'm going to assume this is not that Bob Jones University guy, but an entirely different Bob Jones.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35pm
david w:

Ha! Bob Jones plays bass in Gospel of Mars, a band I admire.
  3:37pm
Mark R:

I have to say David, your show consistently delivers the most fascinating and original sounds on the whole WFMU spectrum. Thank you for all your hard work organizing and curating all this great stuff!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 3:39pm
Doug Schulkind:

The Drummer Stream has a creamy, nougat center.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:42pm
david w:

Mark R. Wow. Thanks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:44pm
david w:

And Doug, you still have candies left?
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 3:44pm
Doug Schulkind:

Mark's comment was sweeter.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50pm
fred:

@Doug: Still on break, I hope? David said earlier Mary was sandwiching this show, so if this the creamy nougat center, what does that make her show?
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 3:52pm
Doug Schulkind:

@fred
My next (and final) semester commences on Monday.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56pm
steveo:

lots of great nougat today, yep (yes, I just took off my headphones to see where that sound was coming from)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:57pm
david w:

stereo steveo!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00pm
steveo:

all day long :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:03pm
steveo:

The colon is not centered in the right paren in your font which is more disturbing even than anna clyne gasping for air.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:06pm
david w:

But but did I pick this font? Ruth says put a space in there, and maybe a dash for the nose. It might look better.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:09pm
steveo:

i like the font otherwise, so i can put up with it :- ) (not so sure, Ruth...)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:09pm
steveo:

(about the dash i mean)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:15pm
david w:

You got giggles out of her!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:21pm
steveo:

excellent! and loving the boop beep!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:35pm
fred:

That's quite a great way to mix trombone and dulcimer
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:38pm
david w:

Mixed up that is us!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 4:43pm
listener james from westwood:

Adore this Parkins track.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:44pm
david w:

This one is unique from her well-known improv stuff and under-recognized compositional stuff. Go Zeena!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 4:44pm
Sem:

Gotta say the same^.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:45pm
fred:

The show when you had Zeena Parkins as a guest was a great one
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:46pm
coelacanth∅:

jeez i missed the whole kit, and nearly the whole kaboodle.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 4:47pm

Another yea for the Parkins; enjoyed the show, thanks David and Ruth.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:50pm
