Options January 9, 2018: BRIAN REITZELL
Brian Reitzell discusses his recent soundtrack release for Neil Gaiman's produced Starz TV series "American Gods" released on vinyl by Milan Records which features collaborations with Debbie Harry, Shirley Manson and Mark Lanegan. Brian drummed for Redd Kross and Air and has worked extensively with Sofia Coppola as composer and/or music supervisor on "The Virgin Suicides," "Lost In Translation," "Marie Antionette" and "The Bling Ring." He also composed for Mike Mills' "Thumbsucker" and "Beginners," Marc Forster's "Stranger Than Fiction," and the "Friday Night Lights" and "Hannibal" TV series. Brian's 2014 solo album "Auto Music" was comprised of conceptual and textural experiments created in preparation for scoring projects. "Logan's Sanctuary," Brian's soundtrack to an imagined sequel to "Logan's Run" conceived with Jellyfish's Roger J. Manning Jr. was an instant Emperor Norton classic back in 2000.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:09pm Devon E. Levins:

Hi All! Should be a fun show. Brian's one of my favorite current composers out there! Excited to get to speak with him finally.
Avatar 7:09pm glenn:

Avatar 7:09pm Linda Lee:

isn't it great to look forward to something & get it!
Avatar 7:10pm Linda Lee:

that ain't just an upright piano. :-)
  7:11pm Izzy:

Thanks for the link Michael! I've operated an upright letterpress before and they're oddly thrilling.
Avatar 7:12pm glenn:

i think so. those are the strings / soundboard.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:12pm Michael 98145:

I love the entire history of printing ...
Avatar 7:12pm Linda Lee:

naw, there's more. i played an upright as a kid. not so complex. we'll see! :-)
Avatar 7:12pm glenn:

but whatdoiknow?
Avatar 7:13pm glenn:

we had one too. they're very cool.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:13pm chris:

probably has the front cover off to make it easier to tune or mess with, maybe we'll find out in the interview?

my folks in BK have a letterpress in their small apartment. its kind of an anchor. very cool! and yes, it gets used!

hi, Devon and all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:13pm Michael 98145:

liking this a lot
  7:14pm Izzy:

Do you do any printing yourself? I study printmaking and I always get stoked when people understand the rich history print has!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:15pm Michael 98145:

I don't currently, but want to learn. Several friends have letterpresses.
  7:15pm Izzy:

I'm carving a 4'x2' woodblock right now conveniently ! This show's vibe helps me focus on tedious work :^)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:16pm queems:

printmaking was also so challenging! i don't have the right brain for flipping everything backwards. that's why i was ok at screen printing
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:16pm Michael 98145:

Cool! I have a post from a Hatch Show Print exhibit on my wall.
  7:16pm Izzy:

Chris that's awesome, my roommate grew up with an etching press in his house in BK and I've always envied it
