Hard to believe it has only been a week since 2017. Seems like months ago. Of course, sparkly songs do help us forget the problems of the past.

queems:

the moody blues were my first understanding of what music was when i was little. they are my mom’s favorite, and so they were always on non-stop in my house growing up. even the wacky 80s records. listening to them is like being home.
  10:24pm
Dean:

Good to hear a Ray Thomas tribute. His is a voice as recognizable as any two-bit celebrity's to my generation, yet he never seemed to us, consumers, that he was hoping for mere fame.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:25pm
Irene Trudel:

I'm old enough to have heard The Moody Blues brand new on the radio back in the day...

didn't WNEW-FM play "Tuesday Afternoon" every Tuesday afternoon? (although embarrassingly, i am forgetting the DJ)
many years ago i worked at Tower Records' Outlet -- one of the coolest things was meeting all these other people (customers, co-workers) who loved this music -- Moody Blues, Renaissance, Steeleye Span, etc. etc. etc. -- YES! GEEZER ROCK RULES!!! :)

Irene Trudel:

Yeah, I'm proud of my Geezer Rock roots! To Our Children's Children's Children by far was my favorite. Had a but of a drugged-out revelation hearing that one played on the Rutgers radio station when I was down there on Halloween in the early 70's. And, yes, slugluv, WNEW-FM did seem to play Tuesday Afternoon every Tuesday.

all the kitties here are blissed out and loving The Moody Blues too -- !!!
i hated high school (was always a "good student" and enjoyed learning, but was also always a freakin' outcast) but hearing all these gems from my teenage years again is one of the few reasons i wish i was back there again (i guess music was my escape?) -- THANK YOU, Irene!
  10:46pm
nickrhombi:

... heard this in the background and thought clay pigeon was filling in.... saddened to read the news. i remember the white label 'a question of balance' with the purple 'threshold' label in my sisters record collection getting a lot of turntable time as a kid. . somebody got me the double 'best of' when i was like 11 and played the grooves smooth. - real transporting stuff.... then and now.

Was gonna go to bed but am now sitting up and listening to this fine set of Moody Blues. What a lovely band.
Interesting what London in the late '60s sounded like-- that, the Beatles, Pink Floyd...bathed in a wave....

Yes, if you live in nYc or find yourself visiting the area, do take a tour of the Louis Armstrong house. I did, a few months back, it was pretty cool.
