There's also more than a whiff of ironic appropriation of marketing jargon ("Strength Through [Our Product]!" and, no doubt, the National Socialist Kraft durch Freude.

There's also their cover of Underdog that's pretty straightforward.

Rich in WA: That album is one of the casualties of a mid-'80s LP purge, but I have since purchased later issues of live sets by Hillage that feature the tune. I saw him, too, around that time. He opened for ELO, I kid you not, at Anaheim Convention Center. Or maybe it was Long Beach, in which case Little Feat opened at Anaheim. Or vice versa. Anyway, I was most excited to hear Hillage live.

Every time I saw the Buttholes in the 80s, it seemed like Smegma opened for them. I know for a fact at least twice, as Ju Suk Reet Meat told me that's how many he can remember.

Davis played it for Crosby at the former's home before releasing it. Crosby did not recognize any resemblance between Davis' version and his composition and Davis kicked him out of his house - Wikipedia

I'm a painter and that kind of music is one of the reasons I'm wistul about not being a musician. Always want, try for, paintings with that much power.
