Simon, you were a star on Clay's Wake & Bake show last week!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:10am
pacific standard simon:

Oh lord, I listened to that! Clay picked the one topic that turns me into jello.
  4:16am
markr:

Everybody loved it, though.

Craig in MoTown:

Woke up to the Ramones- Great show, thanks Mark.

Maybe “french band” could be some of people remembering that was a fairly well known jazz band called Air, led by Henry Threadgill, with several albums. (Well, I was irritated by the French band for that, anyway.)
  4:35am
markr:

Oh, THAT Mo-town, ha. Well, welcome anyway, and it's still 4:35 am, so have some coffee, for God sakes.
  4:37am
markr:

I admit this is kind of a lousy recording--sounds like a soundboard recording, maybe--but still...
  4:40am
markr:

I wish I was a catfish...swimming in the deep blue sea. But catfish are freshwater fish, no? And do you really think if you were a catfish, women would be swimming after you? I think you'd have a better chance just staying a man, and maybe putting on a spritz of Hai Karate and a nice suit, and you know, buy the lady a Hennessy or something...I have all kinds of issues with these ridiculous lyrics.
Avatar 4:44am
Scraps:

Well, catfish women, presuming. Of course, then we have to consider sex with fish, and does that really sound like fun? Etc
Avatar 4:47am
Scraps:

Though most catfish are freshwater fish, “Numerous species from the families Ariidae and Plotosidae, and a few species from among the Aspredinidae and Bagridae, are found in salt water.“

you have been subscribed to fish facts

And then there's the whole "Shape of Water"/"Incredible Mr. Limpet" deal...There's just a lot to unpack there. Mitch Mitchell was good, though.

How does The Shape of Water not end up looking like a BPRD/Herllboy rip-off? That's how the ads make it seem.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:14am
pacific standard simon:

Uh, Hellboy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:15am
pacific standard simon:

This John Hollenback stuff sounds a bit like some of the more romantic Zappa orchestral pieces.
  5:16am
markr:

Well, I didn't see "Hellboy" (I know, I'm a Philistine!) but I loved "Shape of Water," all the performances were first-rate. Michael Shannon has become my cult hero. I'll go see anything he's in. Richard Jenkins, too.
