it was really interesting. it was also pretty cool to walk along the old cannery row where things in his stories happened. brought the stories to life in a tangible way. that whole area was pretty nice, just unbelievably expsnsive and overrun with tourists

of course, i could see the monterey fairgrounds from the house i lived in, so that was always amazing when music happened there, and brought that whole aspect of history to life too
