That is one gory tableau.

Good morning Jeff and listeners
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:10am Jeff Golick:

Yeah, @Brian in UK. Kara Walker. She is an amazing artist. Hello.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:34am VT Knit Girl:

Lovely Sunday morning music
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:36am Jeff Golick:

Productive already, @listener james! Gonna get your Super Bowl feed bag on?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:36am Jeff Golick:

Hello, and glad you are enjoying, @VT Knit Girl!
  9:37am Dean:

Have been wondering why more bands don't adopt slogans to market their wares. E.g., Eno: "One neo-eon." Slayer: "Really, they are that funny." The Carpenters: "Locations close to you." The Police: "Yeah, well, fuck U2." Steely Dan: "Peg." Etc.
  9:37am Dean:

Gang of Four: "Nobody doesn't like that one bass player."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:39am Jeff Golick:

Welcome, @Dean. I think most musos have ceded that territory to the ad people already.
  9:46am Dean:

This Norton track came out in 2003, I'm pretty sure.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47am doctorjazz:

Lovely set!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47am Jeff Golick:

Oh yeah, look at that, @Dean. Thanks. I guess he's selectively releasing tracks via Bandcamp now...?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:51am Stanley:

Made it!
Hi Jeff (pant), listeners (cough, splutter)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:52am Jeff Golick:

@Stanley! Never run to catch up to a radio show. There will always be another.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53am Jeff Golick:

(But, needless to say, glad you made it.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53am Stanley:

I'm a bit out of shape, Jeff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:59am VT Knit Girl:

I have heard that song everyday for the last 3 days on FMU.
Avatar 9:59am fred:

I did attend a Super Bowl watching party, thirty years ago. It was 2 hours of commercials, one hour of pointless half-time show, and one hour of play. Maybe it's even worse by now
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:00am Jeff Golick:

Which one, @VT Knit Girl?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:00am doctorjazz:

As a Jets fan, I'm rooting for anyone-but-the-Patriots! Go Philly!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:02am Jeff Golick:

I know someone who is planning to DVR the broadcast, fast forward through the game itself, and watch the commercials.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:02am doctorjazz:

(big fan of the Mulligan Quartet)
  10:03am Doug Schulkind:

On Facebook, Allen Lowe recently remarked that Lisa Parrott is the best baritone sax player on the planet. I am not familiar with her. are you, Mr. Golick?
  10:04am Doug Schulkind:

Oh, and good morning!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:04am Jeff Golick:

'mornin', @Doug! Never hoid the name before!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05am doctorjazz:

Catching a local concert in the afternoon near my Jersey house The Mark O'Connor Band, should be fun
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05am VT Knit Girl:

i think it was in the archive of Troubles show from last Thursday. Can;t remember the other. Not the same version
Avatar 10:05am fred:

That party was when I spent two weeks as a high school exchange student... in Foxborough. You can guess which team I'm rooting for
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05am Stanley:

Funnily enough, I enjoy following the NFL on the BBC. We get highlights during the season and the Super Bowl live. I will be staying up to watch it tonight but is 6:30 p.m. ET the same time zone as WFMU? If so it starts at 11.30pm here. I have a pal 400 miles away who will be watching (he's the only other person I know that follows it) and we'll be in contact through the night and be co-ordinating snacks, beers etc.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07am sberger:

Morning all...I'm a NE fan, so that's out of the way. I'd match that baritone challenge with Hamiet Bluiett.
  10:07am JtotheK:

Hi Jeff, hi everyone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:09am Stanley:

I'll be rooting for Philadelphia, mainly because I usually support the underdog and the fact that Bill Mac lives there, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:09am Dave in Vermont:

Avatar 10:10am hyde:

hello!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:11am Jeff Golick:

Hey, @JtotheK, @sberger, @hyde, & @Dave in Vermont!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:14am doctorjazz:

Haven't heard of Lisa Parrott eithei but shs seems to be playing in good company,, Matt Wilson, Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra,, from a quick Google search. Pretty good credentials...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:26am Stanley:

You read my mind, Jeff.
  10:27am Dean:

Claw Hammer--of first Devo album redo fame--cover this Beefheart on their live album: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gdPkjNIJ3g
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:28am Jeff Golick:

@Stanley: had to get there somehow.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:28am Jeff Golick:

It's DJ law.
Avatar 10:34am hyde:

@Dean i love Clawhammer. their first record is killer
  10:36am Dean:

I'm with you, @hyde. Saw them a handful of times, twice at Al's Bar. Really solid live band.
  10:37am Dean:

What? No Pink Floyd?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:40am doctorjazz:

Another quick Google search , not knowing much about Claw Hammer. Looks like there is a California band,, Claw Hammer, and a band from Glasgow named Clawhammer.
Avatar 10:42am glenn:

super bowl? what's that?
  10:43am Dean:

The CA band, @doc, short-lived in the '90s, might have reunited once or twice. Jon Wahl, lead singer, had a number of gigs over the years. Guitarist Chris Bagarozzi was in Down by Law.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:43am Jeff Golick:

It's like Century Cup, but for half-wits, @glenn. Hiya.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:43am doctorjazz:

Bandcamp is overwhelming, hard (for me) to explore ..
Avatar 10:44am glenn:

oh, and somewhat analagous to dean's earlier comment -why do book stores play music in store? why aren't they playing audiobooks?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:45am Jeff Golick:

Ooop meant Grey Cup, thus proving my half-wittedness.
  10:46am Dean:

@glenn, In 1997 I flew from LA to Oakland to hear Anthony Braxton at Yoshi's, a few nights of his Ghost Trance group (speaking of Kevin Norton...). Visited Berkeley Public Library--the old building, long since renovated--and headed to the music room upstairs. They were playing music: Anthony Braxton!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:47am doctorjazz:

Man, this is great!
Avatar 10:48am glenn:

oh, i'm not opposed to music in book stores. it just seems to me that they should be promoting the product they sell.
Avatar 10:50am fred:

Finally, the drummer stream has an answer for Ken's Khlam
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:50am Jeff Golick:

Though bookstores mostly sell blank books and games now, so.
  10:52am Dean:

Oh, I don't know. You can find lots of useful titles in bookstores these days. For instance, if you're thinking of collecting mannequins, you could do worse than Dummies for Dummies.
Avatar 10:54am fred:

Sadly, that track cannot be clicky-starred (I think the track name needs an approved US letter to be eligible)
Avatar 10:54am glenn:

huh. i wonder if impeachment for dummies is on the shelves yet.
  10:56am Dean:

http://lawcat.berkeley.edu/record=b913795
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:59am Jeff Golick:

@fred: well that's an interesting little fact. I wonder if it can be remedied.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:00am listener james from westwood:

@Jeff: long-delayed answer, as I dived right into work, but yes, eventually cruising over to Dad's, for early dinner (meat loaf) before the main event!
Avatar 11:03am fred:

@Jeff: I'm sure it's only a matter of bringing it to Kenzo's attention. I do care about this, but I've been forgetting to do it on his playlist for a long time, so maybe don't rely on me
Avatar 11:06am northguineahills:

Morning friends. My wife yesterday just told me she's flying down from Brooklyn to visit on Friday (haven't seen her in person in 18 months). I'm freaking out as I have yet to construct my record shelves or book shelves, and she's a neat freak. I'm going to be busy this week!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:06am Stanley:

Roxeeeeeeeeeeee!
Avatar 11:06am northguineahills:

(her boss ordered her to take a vacation, she's a workaholic).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:08am Jeff Golick:

Hey, @ngh! Time to get crackin'.
Avatar 11:09am northguineahills:

At least those shelves seem to be intact, unlike my cd towers and shelves which were heavily damaged in the move.
Avatar 11:09am northguineahills:

It was fun piecing them together w/ wood glue, epoxy, and pin nails.
Avatar 11:09am glenn:

today on the d:o rock block...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:11am doctorjazz:

Mats!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13am doctorjazz:

Need new record racks, not too handy, old, hand me down cheapo wall unit about to fafa apart...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:15am doctorjazz:

Phone keyboard really acting up today...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16am Jeff Golick:

In case you were wondering what Peter Brotzmann would sound like in a bar band.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:20am doctorjazz:

Love this Murray album
  11:21am Dean:

Murray attended Berkeley High School. Yesterday, at a fundraiser bake sale I heard a BHS student, female, on alto channeling Coltrane. Impressive.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21am Jeff Golick:

It would be hard to imagine an album more in line with your interests, @doc.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22am doctorjazz:

True dat!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:24am Stanley:

This set is on fire!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25am Jeff Golick:

Burn, baby.
Avatar 11:33am fred:

I thought you would have played The Fall's 50 year old man last week, but I guess MES passing would have made it awkward
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:42am doctorjazz:

Have this Rivers on vinyl, cool having bass and tuba down below.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:42am Jeff Golick:

No, I'm just not that with it.
Avatar 11:42am hyde:

love this Rivers record
Avatar 11:46am fred:

Two Jeffs next week! I'm afraid I'll miss all of it though. I hope the show will be glitch-free
  11:47am rw:

Good morning! Good luck with the project ngh. Welcome to 50 JG!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:48am Jeff Golick:

Thanks, @fred!
And welcome and thanks, @rw!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50am Jeff Golick:

Thanks and take care, @Stanley! Go team.
  11:52am rw:

It’s tough to really compare, but so far I think I’m happier in my 50s than I was in my 40s. Hope this decade is a good one for you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:52am Jeff Golick:

Say that into my ear trumpet, please, @glenn.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:52am Jeff Golick:
