So, what are the odds that Ms. Trudell favors us with the song "Bird on the Wire" tonight?

Hello Irene. Have we all heard Tom Rapp passed 2 days ago? Main singer in Sixties psych-folk-rock pioneers Pearls Before Swine, later with solo albums; a lawyer; gentle voice.

Irene Trudel:

Hi Brian, Eugene, Granny, Cooh John, and Summer & Michael! Probably no Mardi Gras style music tonight. Just some pretty, drifty songbirds tonight. Maybe I can find time for Leonard tonight, Eugene. TDK60, I'm totally aware of Tom Rapp's passing. Very sad! But I didn't feel I could pull together a decent tribute tonight. I have a few rarities, including a phone interview he did for me on WFMU some years back. Next week I'm planning a proper sendoff for Mr. Rapp.

I like cabaret singers, so that doesn’t mean an insult, or a demeaning thing to me.

I hadn’t heard of her, but she’s in at least two of Smithsonian Songbook albums, which is impressive, to me

This is so great. Takes me back to piano bar in manhattan (named after a Sondheim song), that me and my wife Velma used to go to twice a week or so. Just awesome. Thank you.

Santos, I found the Blue Jays album today while looking for something else.Glad I brought it in! Scraps, where was Rose's Turn located? I love how all over NYC there seem to be these wonderful little pockets of music most people don't know about.

Grove Street, right next to Arthur’s.

Speaking of piano bars, does anyone remember the name of the piano bar in NYC where Barry Harris often played in the 80's?

The NYTimes did story of Rose’s Turn closing.

There was a video of the story (I don’t think it’s there now), and I was the only amateur singing. ;-)
