On the topic of food, I have a friend who just got back from a tour of Cuba. They had no habaneros. None to be found. How can that be?
Avatar 12:25pm
northguineahills:

Well, the habanero, was named for havana, but only got cultivated in Mexico, and then the Caribbean. I believe it was more of naming it after what everyone thought Cuba was like, rather then being an indigenous culinary crop.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41pm

Me, I'm in 6b so I won't even be planting seeds under lights for another 3 weeks. Then if all goes well will be setting seedlings outdoors in mid-May.

Avatar 1:32pm

@Sem. The site I'm analyzing/mapping now is about 65 miles/110km from either coast and only 7 ft/1.5m above sea level (just south of Lake Okeechobee). The water flows another 100 miles/165km to the Florida Bay at the southern tip of the peninsula. Creating topographic maps there is very boring.

Well, you could do it in French, I think. I wonder if the FCC specifies.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:45pm

I certainly hope that only English counts when it comes to FCC regulations. I wouldn't want them to hunt for foreign language profanities in the station's archives
Avatar 🛎 2:47pm

I can't imagine Spanish isn't standard, too. There are plenty of Spanish-only stations here.
Avatar 2:48pm

There are a handful of spanish profinities that are verboten by the FCC, but let's just say it's less then 7, and you don't have to be creative to actually curse on the air en espanol.
