Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 12:23pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I must remember to check the Drummer Stream from 7 to 9 tonight for Bronwyn's fill-in program.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24pm northguineahills:

I may have a going away party to attend, this evening, but I should still be at work for the first minutes for Bronwyn.
  12:24pm kev:

oh wow
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm BronwynB:

I spent the entire weekend obsessively listening to different versions of Gloria, so thanks for this. What a brilliant song. In particular, I listened to Patti's version like 150 times. I never used to think much of it because the Jesus line turned me off as trite and played out and then something clicked and I realized how brilliant it was of her to take the original's expression of primal lust and desire and sing it as a woman.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm BronwynB:

someday, im gonna stop posting manifesto-length comments, but today is not that day
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm BronwynB:

Thanks ken and ngh :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm BronwynB:

HI JACK!!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 12:25pm Hoboken Jack:

Thanks for the heads-up, Ken!! I may have to wait till 7:30 on account of my Jeopardy addiction. Yay Bronwyn!
  12:27pm PERSONATOR from highland park:

Sounds great
  12:27pm Bluesman:

New: Work from home Mondays = MORE/LOUDER JOE BELOCK
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm BronwynB:

Also, I was listening to a true crime show podcast bc I am addicted to true crime shows and one of the podcasters referred to Laura Branigan's "Gloria" simply as "Gloria" as if it's the most important song with that title. While that's a great song, I was so mad that they gave it that honor over the Them song that I turned the podcast off.
Avatar 12:37pm Joe B:

Bronwyn you should check out the version of Gloria by the Squires. it's on a reissue LP here in the wall. might be my favorite version
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 12:37pm Parq:

Whew! That Whitfield killed.
  12:40pm BronwynB:

Thanks joe I’ll check it out :D
  12:40pm Amy:

@BronwynB which true crime podcast? I'm addicted too, but I want to boycott that one.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 12:43pm Parq:

Dang, this whole set is a'blasting.
Avatar 12:44pm Joe B:

greetings everyone thanks for tuning in! appreciate it!
  12:44pm BronwynB:

It’s called “The Blotter Presents” and I was already on thin ice with them because they hated the performance of the actor who played Erik Menendez on Law & Order True Crime and are loving the performance of the actor playing Andrew Cunanan on American Crime Story, and I feel the complete opposite and would willingly get into it with them on their incorrect opinions on acting.
Avatar 12:46pm Joe B:

glad you dug it parq. the whole new album is amazing
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 12:47pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Then you have the "Gloria" from that Irish band, U2. There appear to be plenty of completely different songs about her.
  12:50pm Bluesman:

Thanks Joe! A BFTG-9 fave! And quite an apropos selection as my "Big Black Car" died last week and it's too expen$ive to repair.
  12:51pm BronwynB:

@ken: not to mention all the mentions she’s gotten from centuries of classical composers! She must be both very old and very sexy
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 12:51pm Nate K.:

I give this Baron Four track an A+++.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 12:52pm Nate K.:

Additionally, this new Paul Messis LP is one of my faves of the year.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 12:54pm Tim 07030:

Hi Joe! Able to tune in for a bit from work, you're rocking me out of my chair!
  12:54pm Amy:

@Nate K. Ditto on the Paul Messis record. It's just crazy good.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 12:55pm Hoboken Jack:

Also not the Alan Parsons Project's "Games People Play."
Avatar 1:02pm Wild Neil:

Peace all. @Bronwyn-Blues Traveler used to do a cover of Them's Gloria. They tore.it.up! Wetlands, circa 1991. Woo! Lotsa people smoking weed in the basement there, I know. Don't ask me HOW I know!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05pm northguineahills:

Ack, missed that Orlando show! Life sort of happened (thank you DHS [immigration bs])
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:11pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I know of The Phantom Surfer's version of "The Cat Came Back," which played on Greasy Kid Stuff before.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:11pm Parq:

Neil, assuming you were in the basement, how could you not know?
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:13pm Parq:

  1:35pm frenchee:

wow, "infinity's urn" Amy is ALL THAT and your free-wheeling interview/performance with "Bryce" chiming in was great. Or was he named Stanley?
Avatar 1:36pm Joe B:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm Michael 98145:

- nice track -
  1:41pm medson:

Great show as usual Joe.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:45pm Parq:

I dunno whether Dylan was serious or just being a smartass with the interviewer when he said that Smokey Robinson is America's greatest poet, but either way, he was right. Maybe Smokey should get a Nobel?
Avatar 1:49pm Joe B:

no argument here parq!
Avatar 1:49pm Joe B:

thanks Medson!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54pm BronwynB:

well, now i know what "skid row" from little shop of horrors is based on
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:54pm Tim 07030:

More castanets, Joe!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm BronwynB:

i also heard the little shop song that has a line that goes "he's a dentist and he'll never ever be any good" long before i heard he's a rebel and laughed so hard when i finally heard the real thing
  1:57pm leshwatt:

Thanks for the cool tunes! Happy Monday from Ohio!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm BronwynB:

he's a rebel written by GENE PITNEY of all people
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm BronwynB:

i like to bring up that fact in all discussions of he's a rebel because it's just so...incongruous
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm Michael 98145:

conformity was the fuel of the early 60s in the US of A
  2:06pm Dungaroos Kipawah:

Every time you play Sara Shook, I have to jump up & check the playlist to see who it is--abt the third time this has happened. Songs always grab me
