The second time I've heard this song in a week after forgetting about it (how?) for years. Great start. Hi Ira, all the best for the show!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm Matt Clarke:

Hey Ira and Diane! Thanks for holding the fort down!
Avatar 12:11pm Diane Kamikaze:

Good afternoon folks! Please give us a hand here! Joe's premium is very cool - "In Any Other Language vol 2", and we've got the Replacements LIVE right now to give away!
Avatar 12:12pm dk:

"if you need help... if you need help... if you need help..."

the 'mats were utterly incomparable at the peak of their power.
Avatar 12:13pm dk:

also, i kinda wonder how this song is understood by a world that mostly hasn't the faintest idea what an answering machine is.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm Uncle Michael:

How do I say I love you to voice mail?

We still use an answering machine.
  12:15pm ?:

Pledge! Pledge! Pledge! Pledge! Pledge! Pledge! Pledge! Pledge!
Avatar 12:16pm northguineahills:

Time to dig up my oracle bones to figure our which premiums to get (yeah, I've been procrastinating on which ones to choose for my S4L).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm Rich in Washington:

I just dug up a box that contained all my smartass incoming messages on microcassette. I apparently didn't care if people hung up before leaving a message in the 90s.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20pm joe:

In a few years people will be raidng the Salvation Army stores in Portland and Brooklyn and Austin for all the answering machines.
  12:20pm DJ Pat K:

The Rascals track was great, no matter what language it was in
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Last year, some chap called my number almost every day for a month. He thought it was a business that tested wells. I guess he finally looked up what actual number he should call.
Avatar 12:25pm northguineahills:

Whoops, my bad Ken!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm Doobois:

Sounds like that chap's well was indeed in need of testing.
  12:25pm DJ Pat K:

@Ken, hopefully it was that, and not tainted well water finally getting the best of him
  12:36pm BriJet:

Good afternoon!!!
Avatar 12:39pm fred:

39% as we're into the second week looks alarming
  12:42pm Anthony in North Florida:

Try doing something like $50.00 and we'll play anything (under about five minutes), let the listeners program the station for a couple of weeks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm chris:

hi, Ira and Diane. positive vibes to Joe B!

how about 1000 listeners sign up to give $10 a month? i'd like that more that listener programming (though i do love y'all).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm Colleen:

Omg...I am floored right now....
  12:48pm queems:

this is like michael bloomberg speaking spanish
Avatar 12:48pm northguineahills:

@Anthony: They used to do a WFMU listener's hour once a month on Saturday mornings (a random listener would be given an hour to program [usually a volunteer, but not always]). I'm sure Doug on Give the Drummer Some would be open to making the idea happen again.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:47pm Parq:

Swag For Life Member 2:50pm Walt:

"I'm Wondering" is my favorite Stevie Wonder song. I doubt that I have heard it more that twice in 40 years of listening to various oldies stations (and it's not listed on the WFMU advanced search, seems like someone would have played it by accident at least once).

Avatar 2:51pm V Priceless:

Yeah, answering machines and the ultimate untraceable message, the typewritten letter mailed first class!
