	10:20am The Oscar: @Neil Having worked at a record store during much of the recent vinyl resurgence, I'd say CDs will definitely come back, at least to a growing sect of diehards. They still have a lot going for them (more permanent than digital, more compact, versatile, and reparable than vinyl, plus the endless quality debate). I can even imagine a second wave of Nuggets-style rediscovery of tiny alt-bands who self-produced CDs.

	10:25am jt: ...true CD's have been maligned, but it's mostly the playback device at fault if you have a proper CD player you will hear stuff you never heard before, it's rather surprising, what a difference it makes. Then there are some recordings that are 'CD only' so those will always have value.

The soundtracks, subsequently, have been released on cassette, with faux-handwritten artwork.

They still have a lot going for them (more permanent than digital, more compact, versatile, and reparable than vinyl, plus the endless quality debate). I can even imagine a second wave of Nuggets-style rediscovery of tiny alt-bands who self-produced CDs.

Then there are some recordings that are 'CD only' so those will always have value.
