Sem, somehow when you make that request my mind comes up with a fourth stooge who the three other stooges keep ringing bells at him

Anyway. Mostly I’m listening lying down, as usual. Cheers.

Is that the proper name, jawharp?

I think so; I've heard it called both, though.

Did y'all happen to hear that UW Steven's Point is planning to toss humanities majors in favor of such meaningful pursuits as Marketing?

The Republicants in control of the WI gummit just do not like the way humanists think — or that they think, I guess.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24pm
Ike:

Yep, I heard about that, @βrian. WI is one of the more gerrymandered states, too, right? Ironically, some speculate that the Democratic gerrymandering of MD and IL may *help* limit gerrymandering in the future because the Supreme Court may feel freer to say, "Hey, look at that, we have to stop both sides from doing it!"

It seems pretty clear that the government doesn't take kindly to the idea of having people that think.

Black Tambourine is AWESOME! So THIS is where the cool kids hang out! First time flyer, there is like a WHOLE OTHER RADIO STATION over here! WOW!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm

I remember when that Low CD first appeared at my crappy college radio station. I had never heard anything like it before. I don't think anybody else there played it. (Except maybe Sugarwolf? She was there too.)

The Cranberries! I was in my 20's! WOW!!!
  1:41pm
Listener Robert:

That's right, Neil, unlike those squares listening to WFMU.

I thought it was hilarious years ago when I realized WFMU had inaugurated alternatives to their own very alternative programming. It reminded me of the Mad magazine piece on how the non-conformists distinguished themslves from the conformists, and then the MAD had to distinguish themselves from the non-conformists.
Avatar 1:42pm
Mary Wing:

Heh. Constantly ahead of the curve, we are.
Avatar 1:43pm
||||||WILD||||||||||||||NEIL||||||||||:

@LR-for some reason I thought this stream was a continous barrage of nothing but drum solos. Really!
Avatar 1:44pm
||||||WILD||||||||||||||NEIL||||||||||:

Is it possible to download songs directly from the shows? OR entire shows?
Avatar 1:46pm
Mary Wing:

You can download entire shows from the archives, sure. Just right click or whatever your computer keystrokes are to save the file to our hard drive.
Avatar 1:50pm
Mayuko:

>THIS is where the cool kids hang out

Haha! Isn't it more like where nerdy kids hang out? Cool is overrated.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51pm
Ike:

I thought you needed the app to download entire shows, *or* the kinda-secret old hidden "Strelka" archive page, but it's much easier to do it with the app. (To answer WN's first question, no, you can't DL individual songs, only entire shows.)

Also, what Mayuko said!
Avatar 1:54pm
northguineahills:

Ack, was on a teleconference w/ my boss and missed Black Tambourine. .... must...end...my....shame!!!!
Avatar 1:55pm
Mary Wing:

Ah, I think Ike is correct. I am spoiled because I know where to find the hidden archives.

nerdy is cool (WHOA)
Avatar 2:04pm

So if nerds are now cool, who are the new nerds? Dorks?!? Dweebs?!?
Avatar 🛎 Swag For Life Member 2:05pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Oh dear. I thought this was the place where people not wearing any pants hung out. How embarrassing!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08pm
Webhamster Henry:

If you don't mind streaming, many shows have direct song links in the archives, so you really don't need to download them at all! You can "clicky star" them and get a list in your profile page for easy access. If you have an audio capture program like Hijack or Soundflower, you can turn that into a file. Depends on your nerdiness quotient.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:09pm
Webhamster Henry:

Archive files are pretty high quality for about a month, then re-encoded at a lower quality to save space.
Avatar 2:09pm

@WH-I have "favorites" as a choice on my phone, but it is not tied to my profile so far as I can tell. Can I even log into my FMU App?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm
steveo:

i haven't figured out out to sign in on the app -- the main web site works on my phone ,though, and i can sign in, see my favorites, click through to a playlist and use the pop-up player from there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23pm
steveo:

alphabet street -- good idea!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm
Webhamster Henry:

I''m signed in on the app, but I don't see a way to sign out . It may ask you to sign in when you favorite something, and then it remembers it in the keychain. The app doesn't pick up the favorites that you get from a website login. In short, the website is the way to go!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29pm
steveo:

i don't think there's a way to favorite at all on the android app
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31pm
steveo:

i take it back, there's a star at the bottom
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33pm
Ike:

There's no way to link the app favorites to the website favorites as far as I can tell. @WH, I've never noticed a way to sign in on the iPhone app *or* the Android app either -- where is that?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm
Webhamster Henry:

Yeah, it looks like you can't log in from the app. I use the desktop a lot on my phone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38pm
Webhamster Henry:

That explains a few things! Well, make some feature requests! Kenzo would have to platform-ize some of the WFMU infrastructure I guess.
