My ex knew this pathological liar who told this whopper about his friend who was the original Mazzy Star singer and they used a computer or something to make Hope Sandoval sound like her. I'm just listening to this story like, Jesus Christ...

That friend was not Kendra Smith

I've been exploring the Over The Edge Radio collection at The Internet Archive. It turns out that I have some old shows that they don't, so I can't throw out my old cassettes yet.

I would LOVE to hear a Frank O'Toole mash-up of the previous track ("Den Lille Prins Elmers Favorite Options) with Renaissance's "Prologue." Frank does amazing mash ups. Someone should tell him.

Love this version of The Creator Has a Master Plan! I know it's too early for Dead chat, but just thought I'd say that I finally got around to watching Long Strange Trip. And in the episode I watched today, someone (maybe Phil) talked about finding the world.

Hey Jeff did you get that new reissue of Ned Lagin's Seastones he just put out yet?
Avatar 12:54am

It's funny, it came with a shrinkwrapped version, which had the cover photo slightly off center, so he got the manufacteror to send empty corrected copies, and I was sent both...

It's cool that the new YLT is called There's A Riot Going On, but it's all mellow jams from what I've heard. It's what we need, also.

@Jeff: If you have the time, can you tell me whether the "Den Lille Prins" track "Elmers Favorite" came out before or after Renaissance's "Prologue." I know they both came out in 1972 but I'd like to know which came first because they share such a similar hook.

Just finished reading a book titled The Rest Is Noise: Listening To The Twentieth Century by Alex Ross. It's about "classical" music, but Phil Lesh gets a couple of mentions in connection with his pre-Dead studies and work.
Avatar 1:57am

@Jeff: Okay Jeff, perhaps you can say when in '72 the track you played came out? Sometimes it says somewhere on the album. I'm not having luck finding the info on the web.

@CDToast: I honestly don't know. All I know is the year, per Discogs...

maybe the phone was a robotic call...there are a lot of those these days...they'll just try every number and if someone answers it gets added to the list...very annoying, and a problem that should have been solved at this point.

@Agent: Actually?

No offense to anyone, but I can't deal with phone calls during the show. It breaks my concentration and I can't hear how you really want to hear Thin Lizzy tonight...

For those that don't now the idiom, the dictionary definition is "aware and energetic as a result of being busy and challenged:"

Re: Sopranos. There's a scene where Janice is listening to the studio version of Creator Has a Master Plan. Full circle.
Avatar 2:24am

Whoa, I had forgotten about that. I have been meaning to rewatch the Sopranos again.
Avatar 2:25am
Mattedpelt:

I gotta rewatch, it's been a while. First time I heard Kinks' Livin on a Thin Line
Avatar 2:25am
Adamsworth:

It's funny how much corny music there is on that show (like that episode that has a Keith sung late period Stones song played repeatedly), and how much great music (Evidently Chickentown, that one Burroughs track)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25am

The last place I lived, there was a noisy colony of herons nearby. And back in Kansas, we had cicadas. But frogs are the best.

Hmm, I've never seen the Sopranos. Never had HBO or Showtime. When I had Netflix, I did binge watch Deadwood, RIP Nokie Edwards.

We do have coyotes here on the island -- you can hear 'em late at night. Want to be careful when you walk your dog.

This Foreningen track rules, can see the probable influence on Current 93
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:40am

That there Foreningen Til Livets Beskyttelse was an actual slab of vinyl. Since I broke down and bought a new turntable, I've been enjoying the clicks in my old records in a way that surprises me.
  2:45am

I just dreamt that you announced that las song to be by an artist called ‘Mr. Laptop’ and woke up laughing.

Loons going off while I lay in a hammock in the pitch black woods freaked me out a bit. Pretty sure it was loons.
Avatar 2:53am

I'm sure it was, and still is, a slab of vinyl. I haven't bought a new turntable in a while, but i still do enjoy playing my old records, clicks or no clicks

That Lightnin' Hopkins was amazing! Thanks for the digitization Jeff...

Loons are so beautiful. Last time I experienced them I was kayaking and had accidentally put suntan lotion on my forehead, it melted into my eyes, and I missed an incredible loon dance in the middle of the lake due to the excruciating pain I was going through

I went about 10 years without a working record player, gave away 2/3 of my records. Then I won some vinyl during a marathon.
