I have to admit, I'm not familiar w/ Jerry Hunt.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27pm
david w:

He died in '93 and the body of work is not huge, recordings have trickled out, but those who saw him live will never forget.

listener james from westwood:

Yay for grant finishing! And for this piece. I too am a newbie to Hunt and am enjoying it!
  3:33pm
Michael Schell:

This piece Fluud was made by intentionally overburdening the Synclavier's onboard sequencer so that it would randomly drop some of the trilled notes.

This Lattice CD that David's playing from now is one of the few non-Tzadik Jerry Hunt albums that are still in print. It's even on Spotify
  3:41pm
Michael Schell:

David, this was an unexpected pleasure today!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm

Let's get that oodiscs release up somewhere!

A purification after last week's John Luther Adams binge here in Seattle and with Second Inversion, lol

The Haramond Plane one is on Spotify but not the others. There's also the video of course. Wonder if the master to that is still around.

Missed the Fluud (they make me work sometimes), but really liking Lattice, great stuff!
  3:53pm
Michael Schell:

I believe what's now playing is Hunt's "Transform (stream): core". I just tweeted a photo of him performing it in an Elizabethan collar, a reference to John Dee, notorious for his experiments in necromancy and angelic conversation.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:54pm
fred:

Could you set up a bandcamp for that?
Avatar 4:02pm
Scraps ←ﬕ::

I first ran into John Dee in =Aegypt= by John Crowley (a wonderful writer, one of best alive, imo)
  4:05pm
Michael Schell:

Fluud is on Spotify at least. THere's a link at http://jerryhunt.org/recworks.htm
  4:06pm
Tom H:

David W: I recall him explaining that he was using the "whack" of the suitcase to trigger a move by 2 Radio Shack Chess Challengers, the outcome of which directed some UMatic tapes to fast-wind and drop into play at a certain timecode location. At least that's what I remember from 1986.
  4:06pm
Michael Schell:

I remember this banging together of a couple of wooden flats at the 1985 show...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:07pm
northguineahills:

Thanks Michael!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:07pm
david w:

@Tom. Yes, he did have tapes search early on before he got his hands on videodisks/
  4:08pm
Tom H:

...and it was fast wind against the heads so you'd see this inexplicable streaking for awhile.
  4:09pm
Michael Schell:

Did you know that the Tribeca Roulette, where this performance was recorded, is where I met my wife? Not at this event though...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:10pm
david w:

Ah, the history...
  4:15pm
Michael Schell:

I'd forgotten about these radio (?) recordings (male voice) in the mix. Do you remember if he was using his Emulator for this gig?
  4:16pm
Michael Schell:

Any objection if I add the Roulette photo from Lona to www.jerryhunt.org?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:18pm
david w:

@Michael - I don't remember any boxes other than custom stuff at the Roulette gig. Lona's photo please do!

Sorry Michael, I'm not Jane!
  4:31pm
Michael Schell:

So I see, I was beguiled by the "Henry" part, lol
  4:32pm
Jane Henry:

No David, I'm not web hamster. I had the good fortune to see Jerry perform many time over the years, from the early 80s to his last trip to Holland, for his last collaboration with Paul Panhuysen. That was in an old dairy barn, and involved live goats and a double bass, recordings of voices, etc.
But it was his performance at Roulette that absolutely astounded me. It was truly profound. THANK you for playing some of it!
  4:35pm
Michael Schell:

Jane, you're one of the few performers that have been brave enough to perform Jerry's music based on his scores!
