Ms. Clark's radio hit was an awakening for me. Growing up in a village in Louisiana, downtown was main street, but the idea of downtown slowly changed over time: Jonesboro, Ruston, Shreveport, NOLA, Los Angeles, NYC, Las Vegas. Downtown is where the lights seem brighter.

Gaylord, a very nice interview. I think Petula felt at ease with you and your obviously well researched questions. The tunes you played are making me re-evaluate and want to listen to what I already own again, esp. the Memphis album.Who else went to Memphis to specifically make albums? Dusty, Pet, Brenda Lee and Paul Revere are in my collection, there must be many more.
