Favoriting May 29, 2018: Goodbye Ruby Tuesdays, Hello Wednesdays, Gently Mixed Days @7pm!

Irene, gently mixing@wfmu

Station Manager Ken has asked me to try a new venture for the summer. My shows will air on Wednesdays at 7pm. Irene Trudel-Gently Mixed Up is what I'll be calling this hour-long show, presenting live performances exclusively. I hope to return to a regular mixture of recorded music and live performances next September.

Eugene R.:

Better one hour a week than no hours a week (like last Summer). We shall persist!
Avatar 9:04pm
Listener John from NJ:

Hello all! I look forward to your Wednesday sh0ws and more 3 hour shows next fall.
  9:04pm
Andrew:

Starting next week, Irene? Or tomorrow? Missed you last summer, so agree with Eugene.

So isle of dogs was pretty good right?
Avatar 9:10pm
TDK60:

Switching gears, for a while.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:11pm
Irene Trudel:

Hi everybody! Yes. it's true-- I'll be moving to Wednesdays at 7pm starting next week. And it will be exclusively a live music program. But better that than nothing. I have several great live sessions already recorded, so it will be a bit of work to edit but still plenty of music. And yes, Switchblade Batman, I really enjoyed Isle of Dogs, which we saw yesterday. And I love that album by West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band.

I will GREATLY miss this show, Irene! One of the (if not, THEE) best show on FMU. But looking forward to the live shows on Wednesdays.

You know, the 1 hour shows on this station are pretty solid. So hey, I think you can make this work! Has there ever been a purely live WFMU show before? I trust your work on this, Irene!

doh! :/

Jeff Moore:

If anyone can pull that off, it's Irene.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:49pm
Irene Trudel:

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Jeff! Jake, there were two shows on WFMU featuring live music in the past-- Nick Hill's Live Music Faucet, where I gained a lot of my engineering skills, and Live at the Stork Club. But there hasn't been one strictly for a while.

andrewb:

why does this remind me of big blood
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:59pm
Irene Trudel:

andrewb, can you suggest a tune of theirs? I'm one of the few that don't really know Big Blood's music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:03pm
Irene Trudel:

Going back to the live music show idea, part of why I started doing it on my own shows is taht I loved doing those sessions with Nick and Stork so much. I couldn't seem to find enough people to consistently help engineer on my daytime shows, and since I had the skills, I just decided to do it myself. These days I have a couple of great, young engineers eager to help (thanks Bryn Scharenberg!) My options are a lot better these days. However, I do love also doing a regular record/CD show, so I'm hoping to get back to it next schedule.
