@dale: I just bought a trap mixtape (cdr) from the ghetto mart, it's actually quite tight. (most contemporary hiphop does suck, but there are notable great exceptions)

Johnzon:

Hey I still haven't had an official gig so I have no real reason to call in but so wanted to share this incredible weird music video... er... "documentary" that my friend and I made four years ago... hope you enjoy

@Johnzon: you've been to gigs, that's reason enough to call in ....

I give this show a “nice try” but I think it’s time to find a replacement.

Dale: yes

Emotional intelligence is extremely important especially in a collaborative art such as music.

debt collector:

@johnzon fair enough!
Tell me what you get from this show?
  6:24pm
Johnzon:

I think the main problem with this show is that not enough people call in... I figure that will change over time. I would call in but I want my first time calling in to WfMU to be special... I'd like to have actually played a gig. I was supposed to play a show at this abandoned drug store I used to live at but almost nobody showed up and they didn't have a microphone and etc. so I ended up leaving... then apparently after I left my friend Dogg tried to stab some old hippie guy so... I'm kind of glad I left.
  6:26pm
Johnzon:

What I get out of it... idk it's like car talk for gigs... I feel like it's mildly informative and the banter can be amusing... I like the hosts, I'm trying to play gigs eventually so I guess I find it kind of inspirational or something.
  6:27pm
debt collector:

@johnzon. Dig deeper. Why do not enough people call in? Plus that’s not a explanation of what you get from this show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:27pm

@debt collector: I think Matt and Kevin are sincere and I've heard some interesting stories and tour stories shared. Thank goodness M & K are not condescending or judgmental.

@krys o. Fair enough. Mostly curious. Didn’t think I was being condescending. What’s ponderous for some is comfort for others. Horse for courses.

Johnzon:

I think what I like about the show is that it's democratic, it's a non judgmental place for aspiring/emerging musicians to come on and talk about gigs or geek out about whatever the hell this guy is talking about... guitars. Idk... I can't think of another show on FMU that quite fills that niche but hey... if it's not popular I'm sure they'll replace it eventually.

I concur, Johnzon. Even their advice about food is interesting.

I'm a fan of bjork & tom waits
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:42pm
Krys O.:

Tom Waits was schooled in all things Beefheartian by his wife. Kathleen Brennan was key in expanding Tom's range. Oh, and I met him at the Crazy Eddie's Village store back in the mid-80s and he was looking for 1) Lloyd Cole and the Commotions and 2) Captain Beefheart's A&M Sessions.
  6:43pm
Johnzon:

I like them both but I'm not familiar enough with them to truly call myself a fan... I guess I'd say I'm a casual fan of both.
Avatar 6:44pm
Will from Seattle:

I'll admit i'm more into bjork these days, but I do like waits a lot still

I think Tom Waits and Bjork should collaborate on a country album with Dolly Parton.
