Billy Jam:

Thanks for tuning in today to WFMU’s weekly “Put The Needle On The Record” program. This week am gonna play mostly all new 2018 instrumental, non-vocal / hip-hop producer tracks, except for set’s opening emcee track from Oxygen with producer Paul Nice. Hope you will enjoy. Thanks today go out to Bronwyn B who (once again this week and every week in June) is handling the engineering duties. Check out Bronwyn’s new summer series of “Love Is Only Sleeping” - Sunday mornings 3am-6am. Last week her eclectic mix included classical and show-tunes - two genres oft overlooked. Also thanks to Aaron in Minneapolis for recording a series of “drops” and IDs for this week’s and upcoming weeks’ shows. This week’s show is dedicated to all the wonderful friends of WFMU who, over the years, have graciously hosted live remote broadcasts of this show PTNOTR from their homes or studios or businesses. These include Spidermank in England’s Manchester area, the folks at the Branchage Film Festival in Jersey Island UK, Paul at Bell Book & Candle in Galway Ireland, VinceMackMahon DJ crew in Barna, County Galway, OB @ All City in Dublin, Jeremy Goody at Megasonic Sound Studios in Oakland CA, Rene DeGuzman at the Oakland Museum of California (OMCA), the curators at Gallery 16 in San Francisco, the program director at Tilos Radio in Budapest, Hungary, and Quincy Goersch in Dusseldorf Germany. Quincy aka DJ/producer GOERSCH hosted Put The Needle On The Record back on March 25th 2011 (archive = wfmu.org...) following an introduction from members of Community Education. In addition to thanking the talented German DJ/producer I also encourage you to join me in supporting the crowdfunding project for his new 7 track 10” record Bad Herrenalb EP 10” More info at this link qrates.com...✓&keyword=goersch
THANKS TO ALL OF YOU WONDERFUL FRIENDS of WFMU and this show for your support. Much appreciated! Now let’s put the needle on da damn record.

PS: returning to theme of last week;s show honoring Brian Turner - it was Brian who gave me copy of the WFMU Oddities CD that included the Black Pope - whom I had never heard before and used to open this show with back in the day on WFMU - at opening of each show with echo effects etc

#BestFuckinRadioStation------
so here's the great thing about this radio station W F M U - if this were some other station - and I mean left of the dial stations - they would have strict formatted schedule - one in which there would not be a one off last minute inspired themed show like this particular one - they would have a strictly instrumental hip-hop weekly show - but here in da land of true FREEFORM - anything can be transmitted over the FM dial - it is truly freeform radio where you never know what will happen - and that is what I love about this radio station as both a listener and programmer

another ALL NEW 2018 music show - proving how much good shit is been made today in hip-hop, not just the more popular emcee driven part but producer tracks like today - many of whom I consider to be in the post-Dilla school of producers - inspired by the late great in their styles THANKS Bronwyn B - thanks Aaron in Minneapolis - thanks to all the artists played today and to Goersch in Germany (buy his record) - and to YOU - F M U

show just ended so only now seeing all of the comments - was too busy during show - but love idea posted by SPIDEY and echoed by Berd of a PTNOTR world tour - just like the time before few years ago when Spidermank made an off the cuff comment on a previous show playlist inviting me to come do show from his living room - think I will do a tour of many countries - first must get well from accident - then get few details in place + then voila PTNOTR World Tour 2018 / 2019 - stay tuned for details

Billy Jam:

@chris in SF - re BT Brian Turner - he is in SF and recently got an inside look at SF General on Potrero since unfortunately earlier this week he had an accident that, in a twist turn of fate, was almost identical to one he had back on the East coast one day on his way to WFMU - Turning a corner onto 16th street in the Mission a MUNI driver not looking knocked Brian off his bike and landed him in the hospital with a broken arm, cuts and scratches and bruises - could have been worse he acknowledges but still -fucked up thing to happen to this good guy who had only moved out to SF from NY one month ago - Wish him a speedy recovery
