Avatar 3:07am Jay/London:

  3:10am markr:

Morning, UK friends. Yes, we're all in the same hot soup together, it seems. It's going up to 95 degrees F. today in NYC. It's a good day to slip into the shade...and sip your lemonade...gonna try to play some cool tunes for ya.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22am coelacanth∅:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22am coelacanth∅:

  3:23am markr:

Morning, Cool. Put your dancing shoes on. Or take them off.
Avatar 3:25am Jay/London:

  3:26am markr:

Let's dance barefoot!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27am coelacanth∅:

....got my dancing feet on
Avatar 3:27am Diezel Tea:

Good morning from the Caucasus. Sorry to hear about the unbearable heat out in UK & NYC, it's gonna be over 40 Celsius in Yerevan today but only 25% humidity)
Avatar 3:27am Jay/London:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29am coelacanth∅:

seriously ahead of the curve
Avatar 3:33am Howard F:

Good morning Mark! Really nice selections!
  3:33am markr:

Welcome, Howard. Glad you're enjoying!
  3:40am markr:

That's not the CD skipping, you guys--it's supposed to sound like that!
Avatar 3:54am Andrew S:

black mountain/pink mountaintops both so great. I caught a show in montreal when bl;ack angels and black mountain were touring together and they all got on stge together for the last couple o0f songs. Magic
  3:57am markr:

Sounds fantastic, Andrew. I have to admit they're a fairly recent discovery for me, even though they've been around forever. Really love their sound--really heavy, but then there are these trippy kind of interludes. And a female lead vocalist brings a whole new vibe. Great stuff.
Avatar 3:57am Andrew S:

saw them another time outdoors and ot was dusk and misty, so cool
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:58am coelacanth∅:

obviously influenced (worshipping at the alter of) by mountain
- who i somewhat subtly introduced some people onto at the pub yesterday (with "travelin in the dark then nantucket sleighride)
Avatar 3:58am Andrew S:

I brought a friend who is reallyt meat and potatoes rock, youi know dep purple, zerppelin, sabbath. Doesnt really follow new bands. They blew him away he kepot teling me that he wasnt aware that bands still play that stuff
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59am Vincent Nifigance:

Missing you on my Monday mornings, Mark.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:03am coelacanth∅:

"meat and potatoes rock" !! i love that! (grand funk railroad)
Avatar 4:04am Andrew S:

yeah man, they are very stoic onstage, not a lot of motion but suprer psych. Ifg you like black mpuntian check out pink mountaintops partuclarly "Leslie" or the best cover of a joyu division song ever "atmosphere"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:04am coelacanth∅:

...(bachman turner overdrive...)
  4:06am markr:

I shall, Andrew, thanks. Thank you for your kind words, Vincent. I'm doing another fill-in Friday overnight, same kooky 3-6 am timeslot. And who knows what the Fall schedule may bring? Nice to see ya.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:06am coelacanth∅:

Andrew are you serious black mountain has a song called "leslie"?
if so then i am validated!
Avatar 4:08am Andrew S:

no pink mountaintops dpo leslie but its thje nsame dude steve mcbean in both bands
Avatar 4:09am Andrew S:

really great people they do a lot of good in the community oif east vancouver which has its share of problems
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:10am coelacanth∅:

- hard to follow but yeah either way some mountain tribute going on
  4:10am markr:

That's great, Andrew--do you live out that way?
Avatar 4:10am Andrew S:

but yeah black angels and black mountain sharing the stage together that was a magic show
Avatar 4:11am Andrew S:

no though i did live in vancouver for a while now im in ottawa, dying of heat
Avatar 4:13am Andrew S:

today was "canada day" and the humidex hit 49 celsius. poor people who congregated here, it was unbearable, it was like saudi arabia
  4:18am markr:

Ha, yeah the whole northeast part of North America is just boiling. Drink a lot of water, you guys. Seriously. My daughter was dehydrated yesterday, took a while to get her up and around.
Avatar 4:20am Jay/London:

seems the temp world wide are all above what they should be !!!
Avatar 4:20am Andrew S:

ive sent messageds all day markr to my family encouraging them to do the same thing. drink water. They are cottagers so like to drink beer and its easy and dangerous to forget to drink watwr in this heat
Avatar 4:23am Andrew S:

my cat and I are both sticking close to the ac :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:24am coelacanth∅:

...hahaha poor people ...please order an extra case of bottled nestle water from amazon
  4:27am markr:

Nestle, who's draining the Great Lakes with the permission of the state legislature there, paying almost nothing to drain Michigan's most precious national research. Nestle is pure evil, dating back to when they pushed baby formula to poor African women who should have been breast feeding their babies for free. And guess what party controls the Michigan state legislature?
Avatar 4:28am Sem:

"When I blow a buck a bottle on water, I buy Perrier."
Good morning, Mark, Circulars, all.
Avatar 4:28am Andrew S:

nestle are evil but hey man if if itt means being parched ill grab a bottle of water...reluctantly
Avatar 4:29am Andrew S:

theypay absoluteltm nothing to sell us back ou=r own water
  4:29am markr:

Their are other companies you can buy bottled water from.
Avatar 4:29am Andrew S:

drain ecosystems, a very small portion of the bottles actually get recycled, they are bad mofos
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31am coelacanth∅:

i just told shoprite friday that if they are in fact not carrying crystal geyser water anymore then they've seen the last of me.
Avatar 4:31am Andrew S:

i foget the controvery in africa too theres so much bad shit going on but they were messing with baby lactose or something. just evil
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:34am coelacanth∅:

i thought nestle was still peddling their shitty formula to ignorant mothers in "third world countries".
...either way i will boycot that company and all their affiliates forever.
Avatar 4:35am Andrew S:

yeah thats what it was man. i forget because there is so muh bad stuff going on but nestle are particularly bad
Avatar 4:37am Andrew S:

thanks for the great tunes, 430 am ouch, have a good night folks :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37am Vincent Nifigance:

Speaking of bottled water and megacorporations, did you Americans ever hear about what happened when Coke tried to launch Dasani in the UK?

"Unlike most of the bottled water sold in British petrol stations and supermarkets Dasani hadn't come from alpine glaciers or trickled out of a precious natural spring - it had come out of the local tap. True, the company put it through a purification process and added mineral salts, but the source was still tap water..."

"...Then on Thursday 18 March there was even worse news.

Something had gone wrong at the Dasani factory and a bad batch of minerals had contaminated the water production with a potentially carcinogenic bromate. Coke admitted defeat. Immediately they withdrew all 500,000 bottles of Dasani in circulation. In just five weeks, Dasani had come and gone, arguably providing more in terms of entertainment than refreshment."
  4:38am markr:

I know--you switch companies and you probably find out they're doing something really evil, too. Sorry for my rant, but I'm from Michigan and the representatives there (who ONLY represent corporate interests) are absolutely destroying my beautiful home state. The poor people of Flint still don't have clean water. I don't understand why people keep voting for people like that.
  4:39am markr:

Thanks for listening, Andrew. This is a good bedtime track.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:39am coelacanth∅:

i buy bottled water because i don't trust my spring water where i live, but if my only option is to buy nestle then i will risk it with my tap water. i will not (& haven't since maybe 1990, except for 2 butterfinger bars) buy nestle.
  4:40am markr:

We use a filter at our house. I don't know if it's doing anything, but the water tastes better.
Avatar 4:41am Andrew S:

nestle has been particularly hjard on michigan, i rewad where they pay like 200 dollars to suck up almth groudwater nd the plastic all ends upo in the sea. im probably rambling it was am,long day but always mnice to finish it off with the great folks at wfmu
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:44am coelacanth∅:

i have a water filter for both my kitchen faucet and my shower - neither of which i can use where i am at the moment because the leaky fixtures cannot handle the backpressure of a filtration system.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:49am coelacanth∅:

this is quite like Pauline O
  4:50am markr:

I'm hoping that the music is creating a spiritual vibe to calm our souls in these troubled times.
  4:52am markr:

This gentleman is another recent discovery--he has an extensive disography, but I've only recently started listening to him. I think he's amazing--there are so many subtle layers and textures to a piece like this. It's like a calm lake on the surface, but underneath there are all kinds of fish swimming around and stuff. I find it can be very calming, but you turn this up loud and you'll see what I mean--there's a lot going on here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:54am coelacanth∅:

yes i'm sorry i got all irritated i'm far from perfect myself but can't help but get on a soapbox with the hope that somebody will think about something they maybe have never thought much about before.
  4:57am markr:

We're ALL irritated, Coel. You'd have to be brain dead to not be. We seek our pleasures where we can (like in cool music), but we all know what's going on. We're not fiddling while Rome burns. There were hundreds of thousands of people in the streets all across the country Saturday. We're not asleep.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:58am coelacanth∅:

well alright. (smileyface emoticon)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:08am coelacanth∅:

  5:25am markr:

Glad we could spin it for ya, Med...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:26am medson:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:26am coelacanth∅:

  5:47am Hi from Holland:

Big Blood - nice tune - on WFMU last week a few times as well.
  5:49am markr:
